Disney Visa - Good idea or not?

I received an offer for a Disney Visa with the $200 gift card. I'm sure we'll qualify so that's not an issue. I see that you can put your vacation on it for 0% for 6 months too. Our vacation is in 4 months and we planned on putting it on our Chase visa anyway and paying it off a month after our vacation. That's when DH gets his annual bonus.

So it seems like it would be a good idea to just open up the account at least so I can get $200 off and have no interest. But I'm wondering long term is this a stupid idea. Do I really want yet another open credit card that I don't really use except for one thing?

Thoughts?

As long as you're not applying for a mortgage anytime soon and can use credit responsibly, I don't see the harm in it. In fact, DH and I both opened second accounts last year because we got the $200 offer despite already having Disney Visas.

If you can be disciplined enough to pay it off every month and/or use other cards with higher reward amounts after your first purchase (to qualify for the $200), then it is a free $200 for Disney purchases. My wife and I each have one; I used my $200 on our trip last year, and she'll use her $200 on this year's trip.

Although we get a higher cashback bonus with other cards, I've been using my Disney Visa almost exclusively this year because I am not disciplined enough to set aside the other cards' bonuses for a Disney vacation. Since the Disney Visa bonus can ONLY be used for Disney, it is almost like a forced Disney savings plan for me.

That said, I expect that our upcoming trip will be our last for quite a few years, so I plan on putting my Disney Visa in a drawer (or perhaps even cancelling it) once we return.

It's very worth it. DH and I have $1076 in reward dollars. As long as you pay it off and never pay interest. We use the card for everything we can and love our rewards. :lovestruc

With all the fees starting up for debit cards, DH and I have decided to start using our DV for everything and pay it off weekly, at least until they do something different where that will penalize us. We only use one CC and it is PIF monthly, so getting the extra $$ to spend at Disney is nice for us.

We also enjoy the $200 bonus from them and will be using it at the end of the month for our trip.
