Disney Visa good for only one year?

I got my Disney visa and noticed that the card will expire in just one year. I know that my other two cards have at least a three or four year life on them. It justed made me wonder. I have good credit and I wondered if anyone knew why this might be.

Mine was only for two years, which I presumed was because of my age.

They usually decide expiration dates on a similar basis to credit line - I know that DD23 just got hers, and we got ours, and both were for multiple years.

I am 33 and have very good credit. Well its really not that big a deal I suppose, I already have 51.00 on it and have not paid a penny in interest!!!!!!!!! (I mean 51.00 Disney Reward Dollars)

hmm I don't know how expiration dates are determined. my cards all usually have a 2 year expiration date. One year seems sorta short.

How do the reward dollars work? I was thinking about getting a disney visa so I could book my trip early next year if they do free dining again but I usually put everything on my amex to get southwest points. Would it be worth it for the odd purchase here and there?

Sometimes having too good credit is not good in the eyes of the credit-grantors. Those of us who pay our balance every month are not considered highly desirable by credit card companies - they want the ones who pay the minimum and allow them (the banks) to make their 20%+ APR month in, month out - no better return available on any investment. Also, if you have multiple credit cards, even though you don't use them, the credit-grantors tend to add up your lines of credit to determine how much trouble you could potentially get into if you would become as stupid as they want you to be (which you probably wouldn't because you value your hard-earned credit rating - who are these people that make these decisions!??!?). Before we got our Disney Visa, we closed three credit cards that had zero balances, but had a significantly high total credit limit.

I hope they don't cancell me in November because I pay off my bill each and every month!! I plan on having hopefully $500 worth of Disney Rewards to take with me next year. I am paying all of my regular bills just about with this thing and building a new home, so this year I will really be able to rack up the rewards.

Doubt very seriously that they would cancel you - they just might want to keep you on a short leash . Despite not giving them their big return, your usage pattern is still profitable to them with the Merchant Fees - oh, and the hope that you will extend out payment. More people need to use their cards like you do. And I will be teaching some community enrichment classes on doing Disney, and one of my recommendations will be for people to get a Disney VISA, build up the rewards, and pay it off faithfully every month. I don't have to tell you to enjoy those reward dollars - I already know that you will .

You need 20 reward dollars ($2000 in charges) to cash out for a card, and you need to request your card about 1 month before you go (or so I am told).


More importantly-does anyone know if they're planning to discontinue the 50th Anniversary castle design? My card expires in Sept, and I need to know if I need to pick new design.

For every $100 you charge on the Disney Visa, you get $1 in Disney Rewards. I put some monthly bills on there so I'll get at least $2/mo in Disney Rewards for sure. I got $50 in Disney rewards for just signing up, so that was nice!

I did use it for the early Free Dining reservations & that was nice. If you wanted to, you could take advantage of 0% financing for 6 months for your Disney package. Plus, the way I looked at it, I got 1% off my package for just using the Disney Visa!

I ordered my Disney Rewards card & it came in 1 week. You need 20 rewards to order your card & then you can transfer in increments of 10 online. Since we leave in September, I'm going to wait until right before we leave to get all our rewards...or I know we'll be there when the statement cuts off, so I believe I could get the rewards transferred in DTD if I'm not mistaken....

Oh & I almost forgot...I used to use a Visa that was for NWA miles...since I wanted to get the Disney Visa, I found out about e-miles.com & now I'm earning miles through that site for NWA instead & earning Disney money too! Yippee!!

DH and I have been members since "day 1" (sometime in 2003, I believe), have NEVER carried a balance, and they have not canceled us. We charge quite a bit each month on the card except for groceries, gas station purchases, and drug store purchases, which we put on Citi which gives us 2% back in cash (used to be 5%!). Between the two cards, we have approximately $600 to $700 extra to bring to WDW each year!!
