I am planning for 2008 and would like to stay at Wilderness lodge in mid-Dec. before the crowds come at Christmas. My question is: how much of a discount did you get at Wilderness lodge this year using the visa discount? Our package at Pop for 2A, 1C saved us about $400 (with dining and park hoppers). Was wondering what kind of savings I could hope for at WL for a standard room for the 3 of us. :confused3 The only change this trip would be probably no park-hoppers.

Thanks to everyone! I have to justify to DH how this won't be much more expensive to be at WL!:rotfl:

I had a standard room booked 12/9 to 14 with the hope of getting the discount and adding an extra night once the discount came out. As soon as it was announced, I called to make the change, only to be told that there were no standard rooms available for the discount (apparently, standard WL rooms book up very quickly, even without a discount). I was able to upgrade to a courtyard view for the same price (<$100 more) as my standard reservation.

I've never stayed at Pop, but I can tell you that my cheapskate husband didn't think it was worth downgrading our ctyd WL ressie to POFQ to save $300.

Anyone else out there lucky enough to get a discount? Even a AAA, if not the visa?

In 2005, I was booked in a standard room at WL. There were public codes, but I had no luck. I received a pin number and for about $325 LESS, I was upgraded to courtyard view. This year I had A ressie for WL Woods view with bunkbeds. I tried to use the Disney Visa code a few times, but there was nothing at WL. On the 3rd call, the CM offered me BC for more than $375 LESS than WL, so I took it!! Never thought I could afford BC, since WL was a stretch for us.

Hope that helps! As with all things CRO, if at first you don't succeed, call, call again!:rotfl2:

I booked a standard room at Wl with a AAA discount as soon as they were released. The savings was 10%. We're staying 9 nights so it was almost one night free... still hoping for better discounts, but at least we have a room guaranteed.

WL is pretty crazy, I booked a standard room with no discount for January, then when the AAA codes came out I was able to upgrade to YC for less money. No brainer, bigger room, great location ( not that WL isn't, it's just the last time we stayed at WL in '04 I paid less than $150 a night, it aint worth $300!). I think the rates at WL have gotten out of hand!

What Disney Visa discount are you talking about? I had a Disney Visa for awhile and didn't really find any advantages to having it. Now I am curious.

Thanks!:daisy:

We don't have one but I think they sometimes offer cardholders a discount on rooms or packages, plus I think you have the 6 months same as cash thing going on too. WE don't use CCs as a rule, our platinum debit has points now so we use that for everything and it's coming straight out of checking so we know our limits.

This August a code was released for travel between end of Aug (?) and Dec. 23 I think, that saved quite a bit. It was first released for Disney Visa card holders, and then to the general public several days later. This has been for the last few years, but this is the first year that we have had a card. On a 7 night stay at Pop with DDP for 2A and 1C we saved about $400 over rack rate and $200 over our AAA discount!

We use our Disney Visa for everything possible and then make payments once a week online in order to earn the most Disney reward dollars ($1 for each $100 spent). We found it had great advantages on our trip this year!
