Disney Visa Credit Card

Hi ... Don't know if this is a scoop or old news. I just got back Saturday night from Disney. On Thursday, my Daughter and I were in Downtown Disney and came across the Disney Visa stand. I jokingly put on my stern face and asked when they were going to open up the Disney Visa to Canadians? She surprisingly answered that it is in the works and should be available within 6 months. She told me that the card will still be offered by Chase and to keep my eyes peeled on their site. If I hear anything more I'll keep you posted!

If it's anything like the Disney card issued in the U.S., it has a very poor "return" in my opinion compared to other affinity credit cards. Of course it's the only one with Disney stuff. Compare to some of the airline credit cards and you might get a free trip to Orlando quicker than you'd get Disney merchandise or stays of equal charges on the credit card.

For example, U.S. $25,000 in charges on an airline credit card gets you 25,000 miles which is a free ticket in North America on most airlines. Be sure to see what you can get with the same $25,000 in spending on the Disney card.

According to the Chase website ,it doesn't look like the benefits are anything special.

But what about all the times Disney card holders get discounts on tickets, packages etc.....that is also a benefit. What is the annual fee they are charging right now?

Really hoping this rumour is true... Adding more fuel to the fire. When we bought our DVC this weekend (woohoo) Our agent asked if we had the Disney Visa, and we said no because we were Canadian, and it seemed to take her a while to respond to us. Almost like she knew something.

May just be a coincidence, but I'm all for thinking optimistically.

I'll watch this thread too. Interested in the perks and fees also. I'm happy with my TD Travel Gold Card (other than the $120 annual fee) but they give you $75.00 for every 5000 points and they can be used on anything that you can get from a travel agent. I usually shop the airlines and find the best deal available and then I call them and if they can't do better - I know they will at least book what I found. I can't wait to see what's offered with the Disney card.

If you use a Canadian Credit Card and purchase US the credit card company charges 2.5% after they convert the US money into Canadian money.

For all purchases you are paying out a lot of money.

I recently applied, and got the TD Canada Trust US Visa (annual fee $25.00 US). You buy in US dollars, and pay in US dollars. No exchange rate, no 2.5% charge for converting the money. It also has lots of other goodies on it. It was the lowest fee Canadian US credit card I could find.

With the Canadian dollar so strong I put $500.00 US on my Canadian Credit Card, and the Credit Card company charged me $541.41. I phoned them to find out why it was so high, and they told me about the 2.5% charge to convert the money from US to Canadian. M/C charges 2.5%, Visa charges 2.5% and Amex charges 2.75%.

If you use a vendor that accepts paypal, paypal converts the money for you. So you can use your Canadian Credit Card and not get the 2.5% fee added. US Airways and NWA accept paypal payments.

So I would be careful putting US charges on your Canadian credit card.

I couldn't find a BMO Canadian US credit card? Do you have this card? All I could find was the airmile credit card for free. Get 1 airmile for every $40.00 purchased on your credit card.

Does this BMO US dollar credit card give you free insurance when you rent a car, etc?

Thank you, I just got off the phone with the BMO M/C people. They don't advertise this BMO US credit card on their website. I don't understand why they don't advertise this credit card is available on their website? The one listed on the website is a M/C US Business credit card for $15.00 per year.

You can get the same features as the Canadian BMO M/C, just can't pick the picture on the front of the card.

I have applied for the no fee US BMO M/C 1 airmile for every $40.00 US purchased. I could have chosen the .5 rebate but I prefer to collect airmiles. I also choose the higher interest rate (free) because I don't plan on carrying a balance. It will take 10 to 15 days to hear if I am approved.

I had my TD Canada Trust US Visa the day after I applied (fee $25.00 US per year). I don't have to pay for extra car rental insurance with the TD US Visa card, the BMO US M/C you have to pay extra for this feature.

You can not apply online for the BMO US Credit Card.. You can apply over the phone (I did it this way), they can mail you an application, or you can go the BMO Bank and pick up an application.

We need to spread the word that you can collect airmiles on your BMO US credit card. You can choose to pay the annual fee and collect the 1 for $20.00 and 1 for $15.00 if you want.

yes i have one. you do get 1 free airmile with every forty dollars spent and that is a free option. you can go from there if you want and pay a fee for things like 1 airmile for every 20 spent. you an also get other options with it, just call 1 800 263 2263 (mastercard) and they will be able to give you all the options available. the important thing for me was that it was a us mastercard that had no fees, i don't use it enough to justify a fee, getting the free airmiles was just a bonus.
by the way, i'm sure about this because i work for bank of montreal.

Eveningsong, BMO does have the NO FEE US Mastercard-with airmiles (1 for every $40 spent, I think....not much, but then there is NO FEE). You have to go into the bank to apply, and you can't pay/transfer online. I got mine in the summer, and just pop into the branch to pay it.

I have ING, I opened a US account there, and it is tied to my BMO US account. So, I transfer money back and forth. It's easy and works well!

OOPS! I guess I didn't read page 2 and you found out for yourself. LOL
