Someone mentioned closing their account after they get the reward dollars. Just be sure to use all of your reward dollars prior to closing your account. Your account has to be active to use the rewards, if you close it, you lose the reward dollars you have accumulated.


Also, when you request a rewards card, transfer just the minimum amount. Don't transfer any more until you are 100% sure you are going to be able to use them. We had "surprise" gall baldder surgery and had to cancel a trip - if we had transferred the reward dollars, there is a good chance they could have expired. Transfers are immediate, so you don't need to do it much ahead of time. Reward dollars left in your account don't expire for 5 years. After they are transferred, they expire in approx. a year.

I just applied last week, but I wish I had known about the $50 promotion. I will get a $15 Disney Store gift card, but I would rather have $50! Darnit!

How long did you have to wait for your card? The e-mail they sent me said 30 days. Then I have to use it, and THEN I will get the gift card. I hope I can do all that before we go in October, so I can buy a t-shirt before we go.

Thanks for the great advice, just what I was looking for!! A couple more thoughts. When waiting as close to vacation time as possible, do they send you a different card for the reward dollars or the actual Chase Disney Visa? How long does it take to get card (if not credit card?) How close to vacation time should I wait considering mailing times?? thanks for your input. We should have over $60.00 just by applying and paying the balance of our vacation....free money is free money right??

We got our card at downtown disney at guest services. But that was back in 2003. I assume they still have them but I would check first. If you do it by mail call for your card about 4 weeks out. It will look like a cc. Then right before you go call and transfer the rewards. This only takes a matter of minutes so you can do it the day you leave, or even the day before, whatever is easiest for you. It was maybe 1.5 hours from the time I called to have mine transfered until the time I acutally used them.

Someone asked about the code at the bottom of the application. This code is out of the Birnbaum guide. I don't know if you need it to get the offer or if it's used to pay the referral source. But there it is if you need it.
