Not sure if this is the right place to post, but I'm looking for opinions about the Disney Visa card. We got the offer where we would recieve a $200 Disney gc after first purchase. We just recently paid off a mountain of cc debt (down to zero for the first time in years-woo hoo) and are looking to open a new cc to re-establish good credit. We don't plan to use it much. Thoughts?

I am against paying a yearly fee for any card. I have the regular Disney Visa which has no fee - and I like it - anything I put on it, I pay that evening online, and usually end up with $50 or so each year in Disney rewards. Not enough for me to upgrade to a card that has a fee to carry it.

Since you just paid down your debt, I would definitely look into the No Fee Disney card. The card with the extra perks and the Fee would require you to spend more to gain the benefits. I never use cards with fees, but I did bite for the Premiere card -for what we buy it will pay for itself each year ..and I pay the card off every month, so I don't pay interest on it.

I wasn't aware there was a "no fee" Disney Visa. I guess that one doesn't have the $200 promotion though. We are also researching other cards to figure out which would be best. Thanks! :)

The, I guess you would call it "standard", card has no annual fee. The Premier card is the one with the fee, though it offers %2 return on some purchases and a couple other perks. My wife and I just upgraded to the premier card after having the standard card since its introduction. We're not fond of paying an annual fee but we believe that for us, it will be worth it. We use our cards for about everything and a majority of our spending tends to be the areas in the %2 return categories. We're careful to charge those things we'd be paying for anyway and have been able to pay it monthly. Doing this we have been able to eat for free when we go to WDW or at least greatly reduce our dining bill, with the points. The promotions defer the annual fee for at least a couple years and we figure if we don't pay for the fee with the points we make we can always drop back to the "standard" card.

Chase has a page describing all their cards. the one below has the Disney cards on it...

We have had the "free" Disney Visa since day 1 and are very satisfied with it. We put everything on it like groceries, gas, our car insurance payment, etc but what we ALWAYS do is deduct it right then from our checking account and if we don't have it in the checking account then we don't buy it. This way when the bill comes in it's already paid. Yes it takes an anal person to keep up with it and the receipts but that's me! We always have at least $300 in rewards point to put toward our Disney vacation and now that DD is in college we usually have $400. I like the no fee plus if we make a large purchase, well the only one we make is the Disney Resort, they have to have confirmation from me for them to except it, yes it can be a hassle but I appreciate it.

Funny, we have the same exact story -the points we build up usually pay for all of our dining for the week. That is truly "Free Dining".

now that DD is in college we usually have $400.

My daughters college charges a fee(2 or 3%) to use the card for payment, so I haven't been using it. Good for you!
