Of all the luck. Chase's fraud division called me this morning to discuss several transactions they were questioning. Sure enough, they weren't my charges. Someone's stolen my Disney Visa card number to buy a bunch of computer stuff online.

I guess it could have happened anywhere. I use the card for just about everything. The only recent online transactions, though, have been to renew my driver's license with Virginia DMV, do my advance check-in with Disney, and guarantee our Hoop-Dee-Doo reservations through an online ADR.

I know I can update the credit card number via the web site for the online check-in. I'm a little gun shy now about using the card online, but I guess I'll go ahead and do it. I don't want there to be a problem with our check-in.

I have no idea how to change the credit card number on the Hoop-Dee-Doo reservation. Even though I made it online, I guess I can call CRO. Since we're using our dining plan credits for the meal, though, I don't think it's as big of an issue as the check-in.

Now I need to think of all the other things that charge automatically to this card.

What a pain in the neck.

All I can say is...at least they caught it BEFORE you went on vacation. Hopefully you can get everything straightened out before then, so you can enjoy yourself at the World.

If you use your credit card at your local stores, any untrustworthy employee could have taken your number and your security code.

Not that it is perfect, but if you avoid certain common sense mistakes, online CC transactions are much safer than most traditional CC uses. As was pointed out, store clerks, waiters, bookeepers, Dr. Offices, etc all have easy access to your CC info.

Luckily for consumers, it is really the banks and merchants that have to deal with it. For you, it is simply the risk of having to replace a card. Therefore, it is always a good idea to have a backup card to use incase you have to shut down your primary card.

Same happened with my card a few years ago. The person used it for gas several times in Orlando area days before I was to fly in. The only way we figured was I used it over the phone with Disney for the Keys to the Kingdom tour.

I read your title and immediately thought if you used your card at WDW recently. It seems many DIS Visa cards are compromised shortly after being used at Disney.

The ADR and online check in could have been the point of compromise especially since you been using it regularly.

Many card numbers are stolen and used for gas and online purchase in similar situations like yours.

I have heard this a lot lately also. Wasn't there some talk not so long ago about some "sting" that went down in CRO or MS about this very thing?

OP - so sorry this happened - I know what a pain it is. My debit card was compromised last year also (not from Disney however) and it was OK - but that initial shock and the aggravation of backtracking all my autobilled accounts was quite annoying.
