I want to start out by being grateful for getting anything extra but I can't help being a little dissapointed. Received a postcard stating that I would be receiving double rewards for 1 year for most purchaces after $1000.00 I have received almoust 50 regular rewards in the past two months and my bonus reward only added up to 3  I'm not mad but I just dreamed of the disney rewards just piling up so fast. Anyone else feeling bummed??

These rewards ceratinly do not add up fast!!

I received a great offer from Disney - I would get double rewards after I spent only $2300 in one month on drycleaning.......(yeah, there were a few other things you could spend on too, but nothing like computers or trips, etc. that you might actually spend that much on). Obviously, I won't be getting any bonus dollars.....

 :(

There are other cards (AMEX blue for one) with better rewards programs than the DisVis. The main attraction of the latter is access to slightly better discounts/deals on Disney stuff than the general public gets.

I personally use the Membership Rewards AMEX program. It doesn't quite maximize the value of points earned, but the points are very flexible, and usually end up being worth between 1 and 2 cents on the dollar (depending on how you use them). For example, I can use them to "top up" my various hotel frequent customer accounts so that I don't have to worry as much about which hotel when.

I hardly ever use my DVisa - just enough to keep it active in case they have an occasional offer that is worthwhile (like advance purchase opportunity for The Lion King tickets)

We have another credit card with a much better rewards program!

I also do no regularly use the DVisa. My card of choice is AMEX Skymiles. I keep the DV just in case there might be a discount somewhere down the line. Non yet...but you never know.

I do use my DisVis wherever I can't use AMEX, though. I've managed to put some largeish purchases on it, too (bought some furniture recently, they didn't take AMEX, and rather than write a check to the store, I'd rather write the check to Bank One and collect a few bucks along the way.)

We were supposed to get double rewards starting in July and have yet to receive any. I'm getting kind of fed up with BankOne and the Disney card at this point.

Real Bummer Man:crazy: I keep the card for the promotions (which seem to be slowing down...I thought there were more offers in the 1st half of the year, than now...eg. 7 for 5, kids atay and play for free...If they keep slowing down, it's hasta la vista!!!

We have been pretty happy so far with the Disney Visa... we just switched to it after using the Amex Delta Skymiles card.

We had a lot of success with the Amex card... we racked up 180,000 miles in just over 3 years (and NO finance charges). We just cashed in some of the miles for 3 plane tickets to Orlando for next spring and still have enough left over for 4 more free tickets.

We plan on trying to use the Disney card exclusively over the next few years and we want to put rewards towards a Disney Cruise.

I was expecting some double dollars too. I hadn't used the card much so I was given an offer of double dollars with no minimum amount so I used it frequently since July. After not getting the dollars I looked at the offer again and though the categories looked broad of what would earn double dollars I didn't use it for any of those things. Oh well - I'm going to use my Citibank Diamond Rewards card going forward.

I agree, the bonus dollars have been very disappointing and if you read the fine print of the bonus offer, it states that they decide what particular items are included even within the stated categories. Big rip off!

I despise Amex with a passion. I once had a fight with them that wound up involving half of the world. (My company, the original hotel, and about 3 departments at Amex. The hotel could not find that they ever even processed the charge in question so they could not reverse it for me and they told Amex this. Amex said "so what" it's on her bill! When my company threatened to sue Amex FINALLY decided to do something! If I had not had the company to help I probably would have been stuck! AMEX HAS NO CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!! For reasons like this they lost an account with hundreds of chargers running up litterally over a million in charges)

So I do use my Disney Visa a lot. I just figure the points are bonus. (I use in mainly for travel when the location won't take Diner's Club and it gets reimbursed by my company.)

The way it is calculated is a huge disappointment for many. We have to spend so much in the categories before the doubles kick in only in those categories that though I spend about $2000-3000-per month the bonus adds up to 3-7 per month, not anywhere near double! Oh well

I agree 100 %! I am glad I get anything back, but I got a postcard saying when you spend over $250 on certain items in a month, you get double points and I haven't. I called the customer service line and questioned it. They said it will take a month or so for the bonus rewards to show, but they still haven't and it has been a month. I feel cheated..... every reward dollar gets me to WDW again sooner!!

I get double points for groceries, etc. over $2300! But what is worse, they always classify my grocery store as "Other"...they classify almost everything as "other" and not the proper category. If I thought I had a chance of getting to over $2300, I'd call customer service and make them go through my statement line by line, but it's not worth it. BUT I do have almost $700 built up and our trip is still over 7 months away. I hope to pay for most of our food with the card.

you have $700 rewards points saved?! WOW. As soon as I saved up $75 I booked a trip ( last January). Since then I have saved up $150 and I am trying to plan a quickie trip in the beginning of December. You have patience!!

I called and they said that of the $7000.00 we charged in 3 mos. only some counted. Gas stations, groceries are other and don't count!!! So out of the 7000.00 we got 30 extra reward $. Big deal. They make it sound like a deal but then almost everything is other on the charge and so it doesn't quality.

I currently have the double points promotion on my card.. My flier says " Use your card for all your purchases - groceries, gas, dry cleaning, things you already pay for, anything and everything." So, I take that to mean ANYTHING.. I sure hope I am right, cause it is perfect timing for me - right before the holidays.. and mine states for anything over $350.. Since I have been charging EVERYTHING - I should rack up some serious points!

That being said... I have not tried to cash anything in yet... So we will see how that goes!

Plus my thinking is that it is better than nothing.. Before this card I just had a regular Visa and I earned nothing on that.. After our kids are older I may switch to Upromise Visa...

Have a good one..

I have been a member since day 1 and have never received any offer for double points. I am happy with the whole program though. I do have other reward cards, specifically monetary, but I always use the money for practical things. This way the rewards "have" to be used at WDW!!! :teeth:

I ordered my reward card about a month ago and leave in 17 days!! Just had some major work done on my car and will have 35 more points to transfer before I go!!! Will have over 290 "extra" dollars to spend!!

It all depends on how the retailer puts your purchases down I guess "other" doesn't qualify our groceries Meijer and Kroger are listed as "other" so they don't count. Speedway (gas) listed as other and also didn't qualify. It sounded really good to us too, so we immediately switched from our airline card to the Disney. Turned out not to be a good deal after all. At least you should get double rewards when you buy at the DS or at Disney!
