The 0% for six months-can this be used for room only or do you hav e to book a package? Can you use it every time you go or just once?

Yes, you can use it for room only and yes, you can get 0% for 6 months every time you book.

Could somebody explain exactly how this works? Does Chase just NOT charge you interest on the cost of your trip? I never carry a balance, but maybe would go for the 0% interest. For example, let's say my CC balance is $5,000 ($4,000 for my Disney vacation and $1,000 in other charges.) If I send in a payment of $1,000 (to cover the "other" charges) then I get 0% interest on $4,000 for 6 months? I could theoretically carry that $4,000 for 6 months without paying a cent of it?

I have used the Disney Visa on my past 3 trips (2009, 2008, & 2007) and LOVE IT!!!! I haven't carried credit card debt that charged me interest in over 10 years but this is too good of a deal. So what I do is this....

1. Book online (I've done vacation packages and the land/sea vacation) & pay $200 deposit with Disney Visa
2. Pay $200 the following month (it's only 200)
3. More than 45 days before so that I can get the Disney rewards dollars (but not too far in advance), I pay off the balance of the trip with the Disney Visa.
4. I look at my budget and end up paying off the vacation over 3 or 4 months, well before the due date. One month I might be able to pay more than other months.

AS long as you pay off the balance before the 6 months are up (and they list the due date on your statement), you will not be charged ANY INTEREST OR FINANCE CHARGES. YIPPEE!!!!

Good luck. It is definitely worth it IF you pay it off before the 6 months are up.

It is for a package only, they will have 2 seperate 6 month periods. One for the deposit $200, and the other for the payment in full. You can do it as many times as you wish. They will be listed seperately on your statement along with the date they expire.

Also, if you have other items charged to the card, Disney Visa will apply payments to those balances first leaving the zero really at zero. Of course, if the only balance you have is the Vacation package, the payment will go to that. I have charged items during a month while I have a zero percent balance on the statement, and as long as I pay off all new charges, no interest! I did just pay off 2 vacation packages I booked in May of this year. I have done this 4 times in all, never a problem.

Yes. See my above post. That's exactly what I do and just finished paying off the vacation, while charging other items and paying them in full each month. If you don't have any other purchases, you do have to make the minimum payment though. It's great!! The last place that a pmt is applied is to the zero portion (and it doesn't even accrue interest like some zero interest cards do, Home Depot for example)

What if you already booked a package and paid the $200 deposit but nothing else? I don't have the Disney Visa but if I got one could I use it for the rest of what I owe on my package?

Yes. The 2 items would actually most likely have 2 different 6 month terms anyway depending on when you book.

When they say 'package' does that include airfare? I've been trying to find this info but can't seem to figure it out. I ask because you have to pay the air portion up front in addition to the $200 deposit. Anyone done this? This is the 1st time I've considered adding the flights in because I'm out of freq flyer miles :confused3

I'm not sure about the airfare question, but I wanted to comment that I also got the promo for Disney Cruise line reservation AND the shore excursions that I booked later on for the trip. We've always booked packages with Disney, so I can't say for the room only. We love it! It's especially nice that they apply payments to the highest interest items first, so you can literally carry the Disney charges for 6 mos no interest even if you make other purchases during that time. There is also the benefit of the disney reward dollars which can really rack up with package purchases.

We budget behind the scenes so that we can pay off our balance in the 6 mos, which is how to truly get the full benefit of the 0%. Since your balance with Disney is not usually due until 45 days out, you can stretch out the no interest for quite some time! We booked a vacation in Jan for Nov, then paid the balance the first week in Oct, so essentially we will have no interest until April! That's no interest for ~15 mos which is tough to get on any other vacation purchase.

When you apply for the Disney visa online do they tell you right away if are approved and for how much? I am trying to calculate when I should apply so I can make sure that I have time to get the rewards card thingie before our trip. If you apply and then they wait to tell you by sending you a letter I prob need to apply sooner rather than later. Thanks!

The rewards are what you earn on purchases you make, so the sooner the more to be earned. I think you find out in the mail for the approval as well as the limit. Maybe if you are going to use it immediately, they may do something different. If you know someone with Disney Visa, have them refer you. They will receive a 25 Disney Dollar bonus and you will get some type of gift card. They seem to range from $25-$100 depending on the offer you can get.

Let me see if I understand this correctly. I still get the rewards dollars if I pay off the balance of my package with Disney visa even if the package isn't actually payed off for 6 months?

Disney Dollars are earned as you spend not as you pay off. THey will post on your statement date. You can charge today and pay it tomorrow; you will earn the disney dollars on the purchase. If you have one of the bonus offers, those Disney Dollars have a lag time since their basis is on actual month, the statement cycle. YOu always earn the regular portion as charged (on your statement date)

Unfortunately it is for PACKAGES only, meaning room and tickets (and meal plan if you like). I don't think you can book airfare through Disney so that doesn't count.

As for the balance, it is 0% on the Disney balance. DO NOT pay more than your balance (minus the Disney trip) each month. When I first got it, and I payed extra on my monthly payments, thinking it would go for the next month, but it went onto the Disney balance.

Ex. Disney balance = $1000
Monthly stated = $1200 (200 + 1000)
And I was spending a lot currently so I send in $300, thinking the $200 for the previous month, and the $100 would pay down my current month but instead I had
Disney balance = $900
Monthly stated = $1100 (200 + 900) instead of 100 + 1000.

Never made that mistake again, but it was nice (and nerveracking) to not have to pay it for 6 extra months.

Sadly I'm getting an AP so I only need room only reservations and there is no 6 month APR free.

That's right it is anything Disney. So Basically when you use the Disney Visa, they pay YOU 1% to use it as long as you pay off the balance in 6 months. And remember you can use it for Disney purchases while you are there too. It is better than cash. I don't know what will happen if you don't pay off the balance in 6 months. Most likely interest will have accrued from the date of purchase, so pay it off with a month to spare like I do.:thumbsup2 And if your trip costs $2000, then you will have $20 on your rewards card, so make sure you get the rewards card before you go.:cool1:
