Many of you have probably seen my other post before I went where I was going to suprise the kids at the airport as they had no clue we were going to WDW. Well that is exactly what we did.

Got to the airport at about 9am and the kids opened a letter that said that we were not going to Centre Parcs and Mummy and Daddy had been lying this whole time and a plane was waiting to take them to Disneyworld in Florida (!).

DD didn't believe us and I had to show her the tickets to prove it. She then jumped all over the car. DS kicked off saying that he wanted to go to Centre Parcs and the plane might crash!!!! - but after about 2 mins he was fine.

Anyway - through airport was fine, but busy and plane was delayed by about an hour. Had checked in online which was great and had arrange seats so that kids could sit by the window......but would mean that a stranger would be sitting next to each one of us.

Now, I'm about 6'3'' and quite wide with it and having not travelled on long haul for a while I didn't realise just how small my space would be for this 9 hour flight. What didn't help is that I had an absolute git sitting next to me for the entire time who constantly moaned to the airstaff, pushed my elbows off the armrests, farted, kept figeting and constantly leaning over me to tell me daughter to "shush". Anyway, after about 4 hours of this, I politely whispered in his ear that if he didn't be quiet and watch his film I was going to tell the steward that he had mentioned something about a bomb in his luggage and subseqently be arrested on landing. He shut up then for the rest of the flight but still stank of poo. DW was not happy with me when I divulged this info later on but never mind - it shut him up.

Finally - touch down!!!! Smelly man sprinted off the plane and we sailed through immigration and lugggage collection with no probs.

Upgraded the hire car to a big Grand Voyager (for a fraction of Virgin wanted I might add) and set off to explore America..............until I got lost and ended up in a rather ghetto type establishment asking for directions for I4. This was first expereince of how crap signage is in America and also how I will nver be venturing into Downtown Orlando again.

Anyway, driving is still a pleasure out there and finally made it to our wonderful house which had one bedroom more than expected and everything you could ever want.

One problem though is that DD found a SCORPIAN in one of the closets (only a small one mind) which kind of freaked us all out. Managed to kill and dispose of it but I'm sure I saw somewhere that if there is a little scorpian then a big one is not far behind - so I searched the entire house and went to bed with one eye open - not before a little dip in the pool, which was a bit chilly so I decided to pay for the pool to be heating first thing in the morning.

Yawn - makes me tired again just thinking of this long long day.

Your flight doesn't sound much fun nor the scorpian

Glad you managed to keep the trip a surprise

Well done for getting the man to shut up and killing the scorpian I think I would have run screaming from the house.

Imagine telling your daughter to shush!

Well done for not losing your cool, I don't think I could have been so 'polite' ;)

scorpians yikes:eek: great start

Shame about your fellow passenger - how rude  And a scorpion :scared1: Whereabouts did you stay - so I know to avoid it ;)

What a lovely surprise for your children, but how did you manage to keep it quiet? I have ended up telling my DS 5 months in advance again!

That guy was so rude to your DD - some people have no holiday spirit. :confused3

Sara. :)

What a lovely surprise for your kids. Can't believe how rude that man was, there is no excuse for it, glad to hear you put him in his place. Sorry to hear about the scorpion too :scared1:

Laur's princess:

a big well done for maintaining the surprise - shame your son couldn't be a little more excited :rotfl2: typical kids!
