Disney Vacay with the Love Bugs (New 6/23 update ~ Chef Mickeys)

I love yours and Lexi's tank with the zebra Mickey heads! How clever! Was that done with iron-ons? I love your christmas pictures too. It looked like so much fun! I like Primevil Whirl too...even though I don't normally like spinng rides. But this one is ok. I always feel like I'm going to get thrown off at some point, but I guess that is the fun of it right? ;)

A great morning at AK so far. I hate getting a late start too.

I've heard some good things about Restaurantasaurus (did I spell that right? It seems like you could go on a few too many syllables, like "banananana"). Anyway, it's a long, hot, hike from the Africa side of the park. I'm surprised that you trekked all that way.

Nice picture on Dinosaur! The kids sure did hunker down. You can't even see them!

I'm eager to hear if you were able to get Lexi's courage up to ride EE.

I love the Animal kingdom pictures. Your matching outfits are so adorable.

Good job on braving Dinosaur. I am terrified of that ride. :lmao:

Can't wait to read more.

Great report! We checked into CBR the day you left, so it's nice to see pictures of our home away from home.

(And, yes, the lovebugs drove us insane too.)

Poor Levi! It's crazy how kids get so sick so fast, so glad he is feeling better now and even better that the rest of you didn't get it!

Yay for having a white christmas!

Love Lexi's outfit for AK day! We have never ridden Primevil Whirl, doesn't look so rough to me to have the 48" height requirement:confused3. Dinosaur is not for me though, too rough. :rotfl2:So funny that the kids rode on the sides and you and your dh were in the middle. Glad that you all enjoyed it!!

Hi there. I have been a DIS lurker for the past 6 months and this is the first trip report that I have read that is still happening! I just spent the last couple of hours reading your TR with my 10 yr old daughter and we have enjoyed it so much! We love the clothes! As the previous poster, I too am curious about how you made the zebra t's. My kids LOVE EE. It's their fav ride in the parks! Can't wait to see your kids' reaction. Waiting for more!!:goodvibes

Hope Levi is feeling better:thumbsup2

Great Christmas shots....I must watch those movies ... I have never seen any of them....Jasmine loves Jacob though:lovestruc

I still cannot believe we didn't see you guys at Animal Kingdom...we were in all the same places ,... I guess our times were just off...still makes me sad we didn't meet up:sad2:

You guys look great!!!!

Thanks, Levi is all better now.
Have you at least read the Twilight series? If not, you must, must, must read them!
I still can't believe I didn't run into anyone at WDW!

Thanks! The shirts were made with iron-on trasfer paper. I made several for this trip. They all looked great the 1st day we wore them, but they did not hold up good after they were washed. :guilty:
Maybe Brad could have handled Primevil Whirl since it doesn't affect you. Next time, I'll have to make Brad try it once.

Disney is the last place to get a late start. You can get so much done in the morning.
The restaurant was great & I'm impressed with your spelling! ;) I always have to think of the Gwen Stefani song to get Banana right!

Thanks for the shirt compliment!
Dinosaur was so much fun. I love rides the most when it's your 1st time & you don't know what to expect!

That is so cool that you checked in on the day we left. I was hoping I would run into a Disboard member at CBR while we were there, but never did.
I hope you had a great week besides the Lovebugs! We had excellent weather. It was hot, but at least not too unbearable.

Poor Levi! It's crazy how kids get so sick so fast, so glad he is feeling better now and even better that the rest of you didn't get it!

Your right, it is crazy how fast kids will get sick. Levi started acting like he didn't feel good on Christmas evening, but I thought he was just tired from all the excitement of the day.
I don't know why PW would have a 48" height requirement. That is crazy. I think a one year old would be fine on it .
It was fun having Lexi & Levi on the outside. Now, that they know what the ride is, I'm sure at least Lexi will make sure she's in the middle next time!

I am going pretty slow on this!
I'm glad to have you & your daughter join! Her & Lexi are the same age. It's a fun age, isn't it?
I made the zebra t's using a design from the Creative DISign section of the Disboards. I just printed the design on iron-on transfer paper (purchased from Wal-Mart) & ironed it on a shirt. Very easy!
Just look in the Creative Design section on this website. You can stay on there for days looking at everything!

I haven't read any of the books...I never even thought too....but I will now!! As soon as I'm finished the one I got for Christmas, I'll start the Twilight series:thumbsup2

It is snowing here in SC. :woohoo: We're getting a lot (for us), school & work is closed. I'm glad this time Levi is not sick & he can enjoy the snow today!

We walked over to Asia for EE.

WDW2010250.jpg

Lexi was scared & wanted to back out. She knew we wouldn’t let her. She had to ride it at least once & give it a try. The stand-by line wait said 20 minutes. Every ride has been a lot shorter that the est wait time. This time that ended up being VERY wrong & one of our longest waits while at WDW that week. The wait ended up being around 50 minutes .
Lexi was nervous during the whole wait. She is going to ride with Brad. Anytime she is scared she wants to be with daddy. She thinks he can protect her better than me!

Levi is with me & during the whole ride he is laughing so hard with excitement! Levi has the best hearty laugh. You can’t help but smile when you hear it. If I could bottle up his laugh & sell it I would be a millionaire.
Lexi & Brad are in the row behind us. I was worried about her when we reached the end of the torn tracks, but she kept her eyes closed the whole time. Those torn tracks are scary when you 1st see it.

In the end, we all survived, including Lexi. Since she kept her eyes closed she didn’t get the full experience, but at least she got on.
I always thought that a huge Yeti popped out during this ride. I didn’t know it was just a shadow. Since that’s what I had imagined in my head & was expecting, I was a little disappointed in the ride.

We left to ride Kali River Rapids. When it was about our turn to load I whipped out of my backpack my Dollar Store poncho & put it on. I had all kind of envious & jealous looks with my poncho on:laughing:! I could hear women whispering, “I wish I had a poncho like her”. Well, you should have read the Disboards! :rolleyes1
The kids wanted to get wet, so they didn’t wear one & Brad thought he was too manly to put on a poncho.
There was a couple behind us loading into our tube. As we got ready to load, she & her husband stripped off their clothes to revel their bathing suits underneath. He had on a speedo & she had on the teeniest, tiniest bikini about 2 sizes too small. And, I’ll just say that she was very well blessed & everything was hanging out! She was now the one getting all the looks from everyone but they were not the same ones that I got. Brad & I couldn’t look at each other because we knew we would burst out laughing. There was another couple in the raft with us & that lady looked PO’d when bikini girl stripped down and it was hard for me not to laugh at that lady too. The whole thing was odd & it was so hard for us not to laugh. I wish I could’ve taken a picture of bikini girl & speedo man, but I don’t think there would have been a non-obvious way for me to take the picture.
The ride was fun! Our side was the one that ended up getting drenched. I sure was glad I had on my poncho & Brad sure wished he had put one on!

My goal was to ride KRR about 10x today. That didn’t happen.
We rode EE & KRR one more time & decided to leave.

We are going to MK to watch the Main St. Elec Parade this evening. I loved “It's Tough to be a Bug” from our last visit & stopped by it on the way out. Lexi & Levi forgot about everything from our last visit. Lexi screamed at the end when the ‘bugs’ moves underneath us.

WDW2010251.jpg

WDW2010252.jpg

Since Lexi & Levi like riding on the monorail, we took a super long way to get to MK. We took the bus to the CR & then planned to get on the monorail at the CR to MK.
Levi & Lexi both fell asleep when we got on the bus to CR.

WDW2010253.jpg

Once we arrived at the CR, we get on the escalator to get to the monorail. Levi was 1st on the escalator, then Lexi, Brad & me. Then, every moms nightmare on a escalator. Levi fell. I saw him go past Lexi, he passed Brad & was heading towards me. Somehow Brad was able to grab him before he got to me. It seemed like the whole fall just took one second, it went so fast. Levi was fine, but we were all very shook up for a couple of minutes.

Off topic:
This reminds me of another escalator mishap I had with the twins when they were 2 years old. I took them to the mall with me & I usually put them in their double-stroller to keep them contained, but didn’t this trip. They both took off running from me at the same time by an escalator. Lexi took off running up the escalator & Levi took off running the other direction on the 1st floor where we were. I remember being frozen for a second not knowing what to do. If I went after Levi, Lexi would be on the 2nd floor somewhere. If I went after her on the escalator, I would be leaving Levi on the 1st floor & he was still running! I looked up at the 2nd floor & praise the Lord, I saw one of my cousins. He saw Lexi coming up the escalator & yelled that he would get her, so I was able to go after Levi. I never see my cousin but once a year & it was perfect timing that he was there.

Up next, a very interesting monorail ride.

I just had to come out of lurkdom to say that I am a fellow South Carolinian. We have gotten 9in of snow today. My kids are just amazed at all the snow! It's so beautiful.

BTW, I'm really enjoying your trip report!:)

:wave2: Hi neighbor! I'm so glad that you came out of lurkdom to say hi. I don't see too many Carolinian's on here. I have several relatives including my step-son that live in Easley, small world. He was just telling us how much snow y'all have.
Can you believe how much snow we have???? The kids are outside now. I'm dreading going out because I hate getting wet & cold. But, it's so BEAUTIFUL!!!

I just posted on your PTR. Do you think you'll ever post pictures of your TR? I hope so!

The kids calling us now, I guess I'm gonna have to go outside!

I hope I will eventually get to my trip report. I let the Disney withdrawl get the best of me and haven't started yet. But I just recently got back on and I'm inspired to start back up. ;)

Hey there - great stories so far. Looks like you had a great day at AK!

There is a big giant yeti on EE. It appears about 3 seconds before the ride stops in the last "cave". Sometimes, they don't light it, and you miss it completely, but even when they do light it (with a strobe) it's sort of a blink and you miss it moment.

YAY for your snow! :yay: I wish ours would go away!! :rotfl:

What a great day at AK. After my last experience on Splash Mtn I will definitely wear a poncho on it and Kali, if I ever ride it. We have never done Kali. :confused3 I'd like to try it someday. We just never spend much time at AK.

I'm glad Lexi survived EE! We can't get DS9 to even attempt it. He doesn't think he will like going backwards. But DS11 just loves it!!

That is hilarious about the bikini girl and speedo guy! :lmao: Although I'm sure it was awkward and annoying for you guys. We probably wouldn't have been able to control our laughter!

I'm glad Brad was able to catch Levi on the escalator!

I love Lexi's outfit with the zebra prints. Very cool :cool2: That is so scary with Lexi falling on the escalator! I swear those things are dangerous. When my DBF was little, he got his shoelace/foot caught at the end where you get off. I think they ended up having to cut off the shoelace. He was traumatized for a while. Then another time (when he was older) he was sprinting up the escalator but tripped. He tried to stop himself from falling with his hand so he took a good chunk out of it  Like I said, escalators are soooo not safe!

We rode EE 4x that week & I never saw the Yeti. I must of blinked everytime! Oh well, next time I will look better :)

You need to ride KRR, but do bring the ponchos!
Some people do not like going backwards, but I'm always less scared going backwards. I think because it doesn't give my stomach the same feeling as going fwd.

As soon as we got off of KRR, Brad & I burst out laughing about bikini girl & speedo man!

It probably was just down completely. I know exactly where to look and have been on it where you couldn't see it. It's a shame they spent all that money and they can't keep the Yeti running. It supposedly needs some major restructural overhaul, and they don't want to take the ride down long enough to do it - so instead you just get no yeti.

I always wondered why sometimes I could see it and other times I couldn't.

I hope they don't have to do a long rehab to fix it!
