Disney Vacay with the Love Bugs (New 6/23 update ~ Chef Mickeys)

You guys still got off to an early start! Love that your kids will let you take pictures of them leaving school!

I'm hoping traffic wasn't bad and that you were able to make up some time on the road! Lexi and Levi are absolutely adorable in their Disney shirts!!! :goodvibes

Love that pic of the kids leaving school. Very exciting! :yay:

They were very excited!

Yay, you're on the way!!

Love that Brad didn't realize that he had holey socks until morning, that is so something that Todd would do!:rolleyes1

I know, men, whatever! :confused3

How fun it must be to leave school early for Disney! I bet they couldn't sit still until you picked them up. Adorable pic. I'm loving their Minnie/Mickey shirts!

You weren't THAT late! Too funny about the socks. How do you not realize you need socks? :rotfl:

You're finally on the way to Disney!! :yay::yay::yay:

I bet they couldn't sit still either! I wish I was one of those parents who could keep a Disney trip a secret & surprise them by picking them up to go to Disney. That really wouldv'e been cool!:cool2:

It felt so late to me! I was ready to get there! :woohoo:

We never ever get on the road by our "goal" time. At least you weren't behind by hours and hours. Looking forward to reading more!

I'm glad we were not behind by several hours. I was ready to go to DTD!

Those last minute items always throw the plan off track!! Yay for being on the way!!

Thanks!

Signing up for the ride

Glad to have you for the ride!:car:

Subscribing to your trip report. Would love to know how you got a 10 year old girl in a Minnie Mouse shirt for school :goodvibes. My DD is 10 and will only wear Disney clothes in Disney :sad2:. We stayed at CBR in 2008 and when we need to go moderate or will always be our choice. I can't wait to read more.

Lexi is all about the clothes, and she does love wearing some of her Disney clothes. She has to wear Disney everyday in WDW. That shirt is not one of her favorites because it is not 'girl cut'. Sadly it has only been worn twice. Two years ago at our WDW trip & then on our driving down day this year.
CBR was beautiful resort!
Glad to have you here!

love the shirts the kids are wearing!

Last minute items can be frustrating, glad you didn't let you get you down. On your way!! Can't wait to read more!!!! :goodvibes

Thanks!

Lexi is ready for a picture anytime, anywhere! Now Levi is a different story. There was no one else around, so I was able to take his picture without embarrassing him to death!

I'm hoping traffic wasn't bad and that you were able to make up some time on the road! Lexi and Levi are absolutely adorable in their Disney shirts!!! :goodvibes

The traffice was bad & made it worse! :headache:

Thanks so much for the compliment!

Do you want to know something funny? Levi read your post last night & said, "How dare she say that!".
I was like, "what?"
Levi, " How dare she say that I look adorable"!
I died laughing at him & told him that he was adorable! :rotfl:

Haha, that's so funny! I was actually questioning how Levi might react to that comment and thought I maybe shouldn't write it! :lmao: Well, maybe you could tell him that what I really meant was that he and Lexi looked really cool in their shirts! :thumbsup2

I love the picture of the kids outside of the school! I can't imagine how much fun it must to load up a vehicle and drive to WDW.....I love road trips but from where we live it would be at least 3 days on the road:confused3

Can't wait for arrival!!!!

Levi has never read the dis. He just happened to walk up to me while I was reading your post & then he started reading it :). I thought it was funny, my baby is growing up on me! I'll let him know you really thought he looked cool! :cool2::cool2::cool2:

It's not bad. We can handle 8.5 hours every couple of years, but not 3 days!

Always running late...I hear ya! My life story! What ever happened to being 5 minutes early for everything?! Seriously...when my kiddos were younger I was so much more together! Can't wait for the next update!!

We're on the road to Disney! :woohoo:

Brad is a control freak when it comes to driving:drive:. He always wants to be the one to drive & does not like riding with others. This suits me fine on trips. I can sleep, read, play w/kids & let him do the work. But, today, I talk him into letting me drive. He just got off work that morning. I tell him that I have our GPS, Christine, to make sure I go the right way. He can sleep for a few hours then he can drive us into Florida. Maybe he will not be grumpy on us tonight when he's tired.
I'm driving, Lexi takes this picture of Brad sleeping.

The exciting thing about a GPS is watching the arrival time keep changing to a earlier time when you're booking it on the road! We're making great time & arrival time is getting shorter! After driving an hour, I miss my turn. There's a I26 & a 126, I messed up on which way to go, on the sign they both looked like 1's. Anyway, Christine has to pronounce loudly,"RECALCULATING ROUTE". Hush up! I try to turn her down, but too late, Brad wakes up. I'm nervous now because I know Brad's going to want to drive :scared:. So, I miss my turn around exit . Brad does insist on driving. I really want him to get sleep, but I'm secretly happy because now I can sleep, read & work on projects I brought along with me. So now, Brad is driving;) . And, we go backwards 30 minutes in ETA. :guilty:

The teacher gave Lexi/Levi a weeks worth of homework. They want to finish it all on the drive down. Here they are working.

Amazingly they do finish all of their HW before we get to Disney! :thumbsup2

We stop in Savannah, GA at 2:30 to get gas & lunch to take with us. This is our only stop.

Before Jacksonville we stop at 3:15 in traffic. Construction has the hwy down to ONE LANE! :crazy2: Brad & I are really trying to encourage each other. I get frustrated, he lets me know it's not going to get us there faster, just relax. He'll get frustrated, then I encourage him to relax & enjoy. We get through driving 5 mph (not an exaggeration) at 4:20. I wrote it down in my handy dandy notebook.
We are way behind in schedule now! But, we're looking up & forward!
What time do we get to our hotel?

Next Chapter: HERE

Looks like you were off to a good start (well, until you hit the construction :faint:)! My DH goes on very little sleep as well. Not quite 1-3 hours, but still way less than me! :rotfl:

I'm glad your kids got all their school work done on the way down. We are flying out Saturday morning and I don't want to have to haul all their school work with us on the plane, so I am hoping my kids can get it all done Friday night. :wizard:

Bless your heart! I can totally relate to the not leaving on time thing!! And getting stuck in Jacksonville is even worse! The pic of Lexi and her animals are just too cute. And yay for you for keeping notes of the trip. I am so going to have to do that next time as I seem to forget way too many details! I can't wait for the next installment!

Lexi is so cute surrounded by her stuffed animals! Love that pic. :goodvibes

Fun start! My dh is the same way about driving. In the near ten years we've been together, I've only managed to drive with him ONCE! That was only because he had just had heart surgery and couldn't, or I'd still be waiting for that day. So glad Brad took a nap and let you take control a bit, even if it didn't have the best results. :rotfl:

Oh no for the construction! :sad1: Hope you got out of it fast!

Woo hoo! You're getting closer!

Ugh, traffic! :headache: We always dread going through Atlanta.

DBF is the same way about having to drive-- especially a longer trip. Fine by me! I can't believe how much energy your husband has! More power to him!
Way to go Lexi and Levi for getting all of their work done on the ride down-- nice that they wouldn't have anything to worry about for the rest of the week!

I didn't keep good notes. I started off good on the drive, but I didn't take any once we were there. I am gonna have to really rack my brain to think of what we did everyday!

Lexi loves her stuffed animals. She bought her Minnie baby on her last WDW trip. We have a beagle dog & she takes the beagle stuff animals EVERYWHERE she goes.

Woo hoo! You're getting closer!

Ugh, traffic! :headache: We always dread going through Atlanta.

I bet you do hate going through Atlanta. The traffic there is always terrible!

It was great that the HW was out of the way. I was worried we would have to work on it when we got back tired from WDW.

i hate that kind of traffic really honks you off.

but the kids looked happy chilling in the back

Great update.....too funny about Christine messing you up and you going the wrong way!!!:lmao: That stinks!!!!:headache: And totally something I would have done, I laughed outloud when you said you tried to turn her down!!!:rotfl:

The kids look comfy and relaxed......that stinks about traffic! Hope you made up some time, somewhere?!!

Lexi is so cute surrounded by all her stuffed animals! :cutie: (Is Lexi okay with me calling her "cute?" :lmao:)

Sorry to hear about your traffic delays... but once you got to Disney, I'm sure all that frustration faded away quickly! :goodvibes
