Disney Vacation Club Travel Show!!

I just got some clarification from MS. The three nights at THV must be used consecutively. Also, when MS calls us to book the nights (probably the end of Jan.) we can book from June 1, 2009-May 31, 2010 and we can use other points we have to add on to those three nights. So, basically we get up to a 15 month booking window ahead of everyone else. SWEET DEAL!!! :cool1:

Also, depending on what season you book in, those 3 nights are worth a whole lot more than 100 developer points. :thumbsup2

Just a hypothetical question... but just wondering...

Could you purchase two contracts and get the incentives for both? Such as 100pts and 160pts? I'd rather have those incentives than the 270pt ones. And if I bought 270pts, I think I'd break it up into 2 contracts anyway.

(Not that it matters, since obviously I wasn't there anyway and couldn't do it, but I'm just hoping that I will be invited to a show near me before we add on early next year.)

Yeah, i'm thinking about Jan 2010 marathon weekend for the whole family, I didn't know we could add on to that with existing points! I'm thinking five or six days in a treehouse and maybe save AKL for a solo trip that use year. Hopefully there will be availability that weekend!

Thanks for the info!

When you add-on other points, do they maintain their current home resort or can you use non-SSR points on this specific Treehouse reservation to extend past 3 days? Or do you need SSR points to extend past the 3 nights??

We added 50 points on to what we already have last night. Strong Museum of play was awesome! A free year for membership at the museum... that is fantabulous!!! so we stood in line at the museum at like 2PM and the normal checkin people kicked us over to the DVC member line... ears, lanyards (which kids had ripped through within the hour).... and we were on our way to play....
They also gave us free tickets to ride the carousel and train (normally a $0.75 charge). I'll attach a pic of that card.

So Mickey does come north every so often. No enough to call him a snow bird.... but close. And I was bummed not to get a pic with DeeVee!

Paul

The way it was explained to me we could use whatever points we wanted to to extend the 3 days, we already own SSR, & we added on AKV last night. We have an august use year for SSR, so they made our AKV points August also. We can use those AKV points for other resorts now or wait until Kidani Village opens & book there. (they're Kidani points)

We went today and we absolutely loved it! This was our first-ever DVC presentation, and although it was extremely tempting, we decided not to buy. The offers and incentives were great, but my dh stood firm.

It was such a nice little get-away. Our kids had such a blast, and my eyes filled with tears when Mickey came out. The desserts were really spectacular, and what a thrill to get a year membership at the Strong Museum! We also loved the Mickey ears and a CM gave our girls some pins. We went into the Butterfly Garden and I'm so glad we did- that was a real treat. It was a great day!

I was there on Sunday - the 4pm show. It was a little frustrating that one family won BOTH of the big giveaways.

I had to sneak out just before the end to use the restroom. Did they hand out the museum memberships there? Or were they going to be sent to the addresses we gave? If I have to miss out, so be it, but I had a great time at the museum even though I wasn't there with kids.

One custodian tried to yell at us for being in the museum after 5pm, so we double checked with a worker who said it would be open until 10 - I had thought it was only open until 7. I had so much fun. No lines to play with anything. It almost felt like we had the place to ourselves.

I did make to and back from the Strong Museum. I only went with my DD7. Unfortunately DH is out of town and my older daughter was not feeling well and stayed home (it's nice when they are old enough to do that) but did call me every hour or so. It was great to visit the museum, especially when it emptied out at 5 and DD7 practically had the place to herself. I was having hard time being able to stay until the end with my sick one at home and my little one staying up too late so I asked if I could do the back room part first and then the presentation. I really didn't need much.

DD got a few treats and I sat down with a guide. I feel a little bad because I felt like I was interrogating her with some specific questions and at that point in the day I was totally fried from too much play and probably not the friendliest. I was in no condition to decide about an add-on. I really loved the idea of the bonus treehouse stay but I don't think I can purchase BLT without seeing the models. I just don't know if I love it or not.

I did make sure to get the membership at Strong which was very very nice of them to be giving out. Thank you DVC!!

Hey Paul can I ask what incentives you got for 50pts. I had my heart set on adding 50pts but it was not big enough for them to mention. So I was dissapointed and left. Just the 8pts off ? We did enjoy our time there and the free membership- awesome. My son was trying to keep those ears on so hard, but they kept falling off as he was so excited playing with everything.

We attended the 7pm show tonight. What a great time we had! It was a very fun way to spend our Sunday. One lucky guy won the first two prizes, that had to be great! Good for him and his family! The person sitting next to us won, that's about as close as we came!
I was very tempted to add on, but my better senses got the best of me (my wife wouldn't let me go talk to the sales rep. she knows I would've added on!) The incentives weren't as good as when we bought this past April, I think there will be better incentives in the future. I actually have plenty of points right now, so there was no hurry.
It was all very nicely done, kudos to Disney!

We went on Friday to the 4:oo show and yes we bought at AKV!! The deals and free week were too much to pass-up. Plus we can change from a 5 day at a 2bd to 7 days in a 1 bd. That works out much better since we are only a family of 3.

I cannot wait o book our first trip "home"!

We went to the Sunday 11am show and loved it, it was really well put on. We didn't win anything but the free museum membership is prize enough for us. We live less than 10 minutes away and go to the museum pretty often, my SIL actually works there. A family membership is usually $85! The best part was my DD meeting Mickey, both he and Minnie spent a few minutes with both my DS and DD, it made my DD comfortable enough to grab onto Mickey's nose and not want to let go! :) Both kids loved the AK drummers, my DD was dancing and clapping along, I can't wait to get her to wdw to see how she reacts to everything. We decided that now isn't the time for us to buy into dvc but really hope to in the future.

here are some pics, hope they're not too big

just the 8 points. We were going to do 30 pts but they only finance 50 and up. Looking at the difference between 30 and 50, it was that much so we just ran with the 50.

This boosts us to 220 per year.

I don't know if anyone mentioned the top tiers... for like 200+ points, you also got 3 days of instant fast passes. so like you don't even wait for the fast passes, you just show your MAGICAL fastpass and you're in.

Any info on when we will be able to make the reservations to the treehouses?

Called MS yesterday, they had no info as of yet, but would expect something in February.

Probably in late January, the reservation can be used from 6/1/09 thru 6/30/10.

I don't see why not but they probably have fine print written somewhere in there, call and talk to someone and see if you can do that.

Walton, NY checking in! We were there (dd10 and myself) on Saturday at 10 am.. left here at 5:30 in the morning to make it!

Loved the presentation, we did buy 160 points at AK. For that we got 5nights at Saratoga, 250 gift card... NOw I'm debating. We already own at Sheraton (I thought Disney would be much more expensive... this really seems a better deal with the points.. I love the fact that the points can rollover, unlike Sheraton points).

But I already have booked with free dining a week in August at Caribbean beach. Sitting here looking if I can afford the extra 250 a month for this and if it is really worth it? Will prices really go that much higher in a year or two when our car payments stop? Can someone advise? lol I want it so bad in my heart, but the head keeps saying uh uh! :rotfl:

Buying any timeshare is an individual decision, but I for one am glad that I bought in to DVC back in 2003. We just did an add on for AKV at the travel show. For me it really is worth it. When I do the math, the initial purchase amount is already paid off in the accomodations I have spent time in during the past five years, and it is just nice not having to worry about the hotel rooms. We can get an AP, go a few times a year, and only worry about getting there and back. It has been worth it for my daughter and I, and I will have it until i'm 70 years old! That is a long time from now to enjoy trips to Disney! If you look at my signature line the only trip that wasn't on DVC points was the first trip, All Star Music. I bought sight unseen after our first trip to the world, I just knew that was what I wanted. Look at it this way, I could have poured that money into stocks, where would I be with that now?
