If you just buy Disney Gift cards on Raise will that work as well?

To answer your question - yes but with some warnings..

1. If you buy Disney cards from Raise (or another discounter), you have to make sure they aren't Disney Store cards. See my post here.
2. You will miss out on the 5% discount from Target from using a REDCard. That said, you might find a deal that makes up the difference.

I searched for this very thing on the DIS. You give them your DVA number and tell them it is a gift card. Worse comes to worse, I can ask for my DVA $ to be disbursed as a Disney gift card and then use that. I'm not out money.

You have to call DVC to pay dues with a Disney Gift Card.

Definately! I have paid with discounted Disney gift cards through one Target scheme or another for the past 3 years. I saved 20% two years in a row and about 15% last year. I have had to email them a list of my gift card numbers in the past since I was paying with 36 of them. MS will be very happy to process a single DVA "gift card" next year.

The $100 just became available online. Up until last week (or week before? I've been on vacation LOL) you could only buy the $50 cards online.

I have a question about requesting my bonus gift card. I know you have to request it 4-6 weeks before you leave and I plan to request it immediately after I pay off my trip (need to pay by Sept. 1st) and we are leaving home on 10/15. I'm a worrier and I'm so nervous that the GC won't arrive before we leave, which is making me think I should pay off the trip a week sooner than I plan to. It'll be at least $100 I'm getting from them so I'm counting on it to add to our gift card total for spending/souvenirs. Has anyone requested/received their GC and had it arrive in time?

You can add that $200 to your onboard account for things you purchase onboard....can be used towards your gratuities, drinks, souvenirs, spa, Palo, etc.

Trying to figure out if we can take advantage of this, it might be cutting it too close though. I opened an account just a few days ago, just in case. Payoff date is Feb 2nd. Anyone know the specifics of the $20 bonus? The FAQs say the account has to be open for 120 days before spending. That would be feb 1st. So, I have to wait until feb 1st to pay to be eligible for the gift cards? I can't put the money in, pay in January, then request gift cards feb 1st?

You just call DCL and purchase an onboard credit. I was told it just needs to be a week prior. I purchased over $1200 in credit so we set our account up as a cash account and just gave our debit card info to guest services the last night before debarkation. I didn't want to risk spending more than I had budgeted for without realizing until it was too late. LOK

Yep you can do it at any time. It just needs to be done at the latest one week before sailing.
