I decided that I wanted to open a DVA now that I realize you can use the money to pay dues. I went online to do so and the site said I had too many accounts associated with my email address. I do have a different account for MDE and for DVC and I don't want to combine them. I was thinking I would use a other email adress that I have for the DVA account. But then the site asked if I have disney account and I do. Maybe it's not worth the trouble. Anyone else encounter similar problems?

I just opened one also. I ignored the prompt as I have always had problems logging in. So I proceeded acting like I was totally new and everything went fine.

I went through and let them send me my accounts to look at. There were a couple really old ones which I deactivated. After I did that I still have 2 on there and it let me proceed. So I don't know why, but it worked!

I was looking into the dva but it says you cannot use it to pay dues

'SPEND' or 'invest'? If invest, how long does the money have to remain in the account before it earns the $20 GC? Thx
Spend and also you have to have had your account open for 120 days before you can get the gift card bonus.

Did they just change the rules for paying dues? I paid my DVC dues in January using my DVA and it worked great!

The official DVA terms have always said that you can't use the DVA for dues or to purchase points.

That said, there currently isn't a process in place to prevent you from using the DVA to pay your dues as long as you tell them you are paying with a Disney Gift Card. If you tell them you are paying with the DVA, they will most likely say no.

I'm afraid I'd open one, build up the account with gift cards to combine them and then they'd not allow it to pay dues. Does anyone else worry about that happening?

No, because you can cash out and request up to $1000 in 1 gc every 90 days. Worst case, you cash out however many times you need and call into accounting with far fewer GC.

This is assuming you'd pay dues with GC. If you don't, then I wouldn't open a DVA.

I normally pay the dues with GC but purchase them in $500 increments when Kroger has the 4x fuel rewards. I could do them in smaller amounts this way and then combine them. I didn't realize you could cash them out if needed.

You can always refund the entire account, too. I got worried about it last year and ended up refunding everything and just using my original gift cards on our vacation.
