New DVC member here. I was just reading about the Disney Vacation account (https://disneyvacationaccount.disney.go.com/) . Does anyone know if you can apply this to dining plan purchases when you use your DVC points? I noticed in the FAQ that it states that you can use it to purchase DVC property. One of the cool things about this account is that you can charge it up with gift cards and for every $1000 you spend you get an extra $20 gift card. Works out great if you buy gift cards from target with the red card.

One other question regarding the DVC booking process (haven't received my activation code yet). When you book, does it give you the option to add on a flight and park hopper tickets similar to how booking a regular vacation package through Disney works?

I've never seen that website before. I have no idea if it would work only for Dining Plan add-ons to DVC. I would assume no, as it looks like it is a plan to pay for vacation packages through regular Disney resorts. DVC reservations are not packages, and are a separate booking system.

You can not add flights and tickets like booking a regular vacation. DVC reservations are "room only" status. You may purchase your tickets through the Disney website and either pick them up at a park with a will call number or have them mailed. Or you may purchase them through an authorized reseller, like UnderCoverTourist. If you are wanting an Annual Pass, you need to get that directly from Disney at one of the parks, or you can call Member Services.

Once you have your tickets or will call number, you can link it into your My Disney Experience to be able to book Fast Pass + and get your Magic Bands.

Send a secure message or chat with MS and see what they say. Would be a way for DVC members to save for tickets, dining plan and even member fees.

Was just reading thru the website:

" Make automatic contributions using your debit or credit card, and schedule contributions to take place every week, every month or every 2 weeks. You can make instant contributions at any time and you can even contribute with a Disney Gift Card!

There are no fees to set up and maintain your account, and you can withdraw the money you've contributed and have it fully refunded at any time!"

Wonder how they refund....same source as payment or through a one time payment somehow. Would be a way to consolidate all those $50 gift cards so many people use.

Chuck,

Thanks for the information. I sent them an inquiry to see if I can make a dining plan purchase with the account. It will allow you to withdraw the account to a single gift card. I suppose I could purchase it that way instead of having to use 50 different gift cards.

Nope....just read this:

Refunds from a Disney Vacation Account will be made to the original form(s) of payment. For instance, if the contribution into your Account was made with a credit card, the refund will be made back to that same credit card. If a contribution into your Account was made with a Disney Gift Card, the refund of that contribution will be made back to that same Disney Gift Card. Refunds will be made up to the specific amount that you request. Please allow at least 5 days for us to process your refund. Your financial institution may need additional time to complete the transaction.

The fine print is always the bane of my existence, lol.

For them to refund to other than the original form of payment could possibly get them into trouble for aiding money laundering. I'm sure that is one of the reasons they will not do it.

But they could possibly be refundingit to one gc instead of 50... Wouldn't that be what the poster wants?

More practically is they pay fees on the transactions and those fees are eliminated from what I understand if they funds are returned. This is why I'm told that merchant's make a big deal of putting the refunds back on the same account. I'm not sure how it'd work for a gift card and the problem is you might get one answer now and the other at the time one asked for the refund. Plus there's a limit on how many partial refunds one can get.

This doesn't look like a good deal to me in general but it might work out for the gift card issue, esp since I'm pretty sure Disney will limit this option fairly soon.
