Disney Vacation Account not allowing me to transfer funds to my onboard account

So many people on here told me this was possible! I am shocked. In addition they were so rude to me! Spoke to a cm and a supervisor. I had been saving gift cards and placing them on the account in order to use to pay for gratuities, excursions, etc, and had understood, from stories of many people on disboards, that I should call before I left for my cruise and have whatever amount I wanted transferred to my onboard account, to use during my cruise. Now they say they can send me a gift card for the amount in 4-6 weeks. What a joke! Does anyone know anything about this, or what I can do? I leave in 10 days so I have a little time to mess with this. So frustrated!

When requesting the gift card, let's say for $1000, does that entitle you to the $20 bonus gift card?

Oh, I am so relieved, calling a different CM they were able to transfer the funds, no problem, and she was as sweet as can be, so for anyone needing to do this in the future, call the 1-800-511-9333 number, not DVA directly at 407-939-7734.

Was this the question in the other post?

No, Snowwhyt, different questions, the other one has been answered, thank you. You can see I'm full of questions today! Grateful for our Disboards community who helps me so quickly!

I just did this last night. I was able to fund not only my OB account, but a friend's as well.

Oh my heart rate went up for a second as I am planning to do this! Glad it works and worked out for you!

I am sorry I scared you! When I called the 800 number it worked like a charm, whereas at the DVA 407 number, they acted like they had never heard of this. The cm at the 800 number sent me an email confirmation, and it looked like the receipt for an onboard amenities purchase. Printed it out to take with me just in case, but I think it will work out OK.

Not sure I understand the benefits of a Disney Vacation Account. Why not just use a regular bank account and not be subject to the various restricrions?

You get a $20 Disney gift card for every $1000 you spend. Also it was a convenient place to enter all those Disney gift cards I purchased at Target.com right around Christmas time when they were having good deals.

If we use the Disney Vacation Account and end up having leftover funds in our onboard account (I'm laughing as I write this, because I can't imagine it actually happening!), where would the funds be refunded? The credit card attached to the DVA, a Disney gift card?

The person I spoke with said that it would automatically go back to the account, she didn't mention anything about it going back to a credit card or Disney gift card. Another tip I got on Disboards, is that you can actually go into the gift shop and buy gift cards with remainder of the money on the account, which seems very convenient.

That's a great idea! I'll try that. Thank you!
