The Disney Unwrapped special showed a segment on desserts that the kids can decorate. It showed really cool things like aliens, butterflies, etc. Does anyone know where this takes place? I know at Chef Mickey's they have the decorate your own cupcake--and my children really enjoyed this. Are there any other dining options that allow the children to do something like this?
Thanks for any input.

I believe they were dessert options available at Chef Mickey's.

I sent a tape of the show to my pen pal in Brazil, and she was amazed!! She hasn't been to WDW since 1998, and looks forward to going back. We were fascinated with the wedding cakes, too. That was a great episode :D

I believe they did a "showcase" of kid's desserts. I looked at the menus at Deb's website and found different kids desserts at different restaurants. It was probably easier for the show to show them all at once and it confused most people thinking they were all at Chef Mickey's.

Coral Reef at Epcot has a build your own sundae treat for kids. Also peanut butter play-dough. (My DS had the sundae. The play-dough didn't sound appetizing to us.)

I know we've had other experiences with "design your own" desserts, but these are the two I can think of right now.

Spoodles used to have something, but I don't know if they still do. (They've re-designed the restaurant since last time we were there.)

One of them was California Grill. Not sure which. Definitely saw the painting one at Artist Point. And concur on the cupcakes at CM. I think for the 100 years celebration, or maybe before, they came out with "play with your food" type desserts for kids at many of the restaurants along with the adult version which is a different "commemorative" dessert at each restaurant. I have this on Tivo. I'll go try to review and see what was where.

Ok, well, they only mention Chef Mickey's by name when talking about the cupcakes. The others are not mentioned as to where you can get them. There was an alien space craft, butterfly, paint your own cookie (Mickey shape), marzipan bugs, peanut butter playdough, 100 Year hat (a la Mr potato head, put the pieces together) . . .
Try Deb Will's child menus.

We also had a butterfly shaped plain cookie at the Garden Grille two years ago that my daughter had such a blast decorating. We even took a picture of it...but last year they were giving out dirt with gummy worms so I don't know if they do the decorating cookie thing anymore. It was really neat though!
