We are DVC owners and have annual passes, but I'm almost out of points, so am considering booking a free dining trip in August.

I did free dining a few years back, but booked through US Disney and just bought one day tickets which I then offset against the cost of our APs.

I believe that if I book a free dining UK package, I also have to add on the fourteen day tickets. Am I correct?

If so, does anyone know if either:
a: I can upgrade these tickets subsequently to APs or, if not,
b: If I can save these tickets and use them for a future trip.

I'm thinking that US Disney might be a better way to go for us, but would like to weigh up our options first.

not sure about upgrading them but I have read theat the tickets are valind till the end of this year and expire 14 days after first use

you can't upgrade the 14 day ulitimate tickets as you can only get them in the UK however you can upgrade the 5 or 7 day premium tickets. I don't know if you can get these with the 14 day DDP though.

I would call about this because at the minute you are being "upgraded" to a 14 Day Ultimate for the price of the 7 day premium & as one of the others stated you would be able to upgrade the 7 day.As far as I recall the only stipulation on Free Dining was that it was all bought as a package & there was no need to have a pass for the duration of your stay.I have just entered dates for next year & it gives you free dining with either option.

I would like to know about this too. I booked the free dining last August for this August. I had to buy the tickets but I had already bought an annual pass which I used for the our December holiday and will therefore still be valid this August. I spoke to a couple of CM's about this and neither were really sure about the ticket and whether it could be extended. I also sent 2 emails to Disney Customer Services and didn't get back a response to either. When I spoke to the CM's they did say that the tickets should definitely be valid until 31st December but I have since read threads on here that say they are only valid for the lenght of your stay. Even with buying the tickets, the free dining offer was a great deal but I will be upset if these tickets go to waste. Seems crazy that you can't pay extra to extend the tickets or put them towards an annual pass, both options I would be happy with. I htink there should be some concession for an annual passholder. After all, the only way to get the free dining was to buy a ticket aswell.

Portugal sounds like your CM was confused, yes they are valid until 31st Dec but this is only if you don't use them, therefore you are still stuck with the 14/21 days from first use. I know that we are always told that the Ultimate/premium passes are such a great deal & are so much better than what the rest of the world gets but in the cae of DDP the AP holders elsewhere only need to buy a 1 Day pass & they have the option of the MYW pass upgrade to either non-expiry or AP.Because we were on-site last year we bought Ultimate passes & yes it was good to have them but really we hardly used it any more than what we normally do with our MYW-which I might add we still have days on from a previous trip!
