Disney TV at Sears for $29! Better Hurry

I had the strangest thing happen. I ordered one television last night to pick up within 3-5 days at the closest store to my home. It went through and I have an order number. It shows "processed;" however, I have yet to receive an e-mail. I ordered one this morning to be delivered to another store (farther away) within 17-19 days. It went throught, shows "processed;" and I did get an e-mail confirmation for this order (just minutes ago). I still can't check my order status by my e-mail address. It says it's invalid.

This whole ordeal certainly does not cast a positive image on Sears' reputation as far as I'm concerned.

I'm on the phone with Sears .com. They are cancelling all the orders for the 29.99 tv. I am going to call my local media outlets and I'm going to try FOX news. We live just outside New Orleans-when I saw the ad, I thought YEA a break. Just got off the phone there's nothing that Sears will do to honor the ad. Note the word honor. The guy said there is a disclaimer-correct but like I told him I guess then that Sears can change any price at any time therefore,I'm not shopping at Sears anymore.

They already have the money on hold with my CC. I guess time to start firing off the letters and phone calls. That is total CRAP! and to still have it listed wrong on the website!

And we wonder why Sears is in the whole!

Are we to assume that cancellation notices are forthcoming? The holds (yes, two) are on my credit card, and I've received one order confirmation. You know, getting the television is not that big of a deal to me. However, keeping an erroneous ad available for three days and then deciding that they will not honor it is not good business. I'll certainly pass along my two cents to Sears and the BBB.

We all need to do this!

Sears is a major company and this is *pocket-change* for them!

Not to mention this must be illegal under consumer law!!!

If they don't want to have a major *stink* made in the media, they'd better follow through *IN GOOD FAITH* on these orders!

Lets all keep in touch regarding this issue.

We CAN do something about this and make a difference!!!

thats what really made me mad. Lying and sending a written email stating my card was declined?????? How could they send me two emails in a row and say two different things??? come on suck it up and be honest and forthright and either honor them all or none.. you can't just pick and choose.. shame on them for leaving it up there also- why would you want to keeping pissing off loyal customers :confused3

I got the same email, cc declined. So I called my cc company who said the charge went through yesterday.
I think they should have to honor the deal; 1) because in the past few days even after the offer was taken down it was put back up. If its an error it shouldnt be available again and it was and 2) they should honor for lying to ppl about their cc's.

If your not honoring it then say so and dont lie about the cc's. Do they really think we wouldnt check with our cc company?

I could not agree more "You know, getting the television is not that big of a deal to me. However, keeping an erroneous ad available for three days and then deciding that they will not honor it is not good business. I'll certainly pass along my two cents to Sears and the BBB."

For those in the Philly area, I alerted Consumer Watch on Channel 10. I explained that my issue is that the ad was showing and orders were taken my Sears.com for such a long period of time. Also, now I can't get a hold of Sears, and I have a hold on my credit card for a purchase that it appears I will never get.

And my status from Sears is still processing. What are they processing?

I totally agree! I am not upset about not getting the TV but I am sick of stores pulling this crap. CORPORATE AMERICA! Is alive and well. Funny my mom stopped shopping at Sears when I was a kid. Got a pair of crappy shoes and now 30 plus years later it is my turn to totally boycott Sears.

Now when I check on the status one that I orderd it says:

To view order details, click your order status in the right column of the table below.

No orders were retrieved
Thank you

So I guess first they lie about your cc then lie about the order itself. :confused3

But we have the email conformation that says this is your receipt. Which means in order to get a receipt that I purchased something. So must be time to call Fox 6 news here!

You don't have a legal leg to stand on - read their terms and conditions. I'm not saying that it's right, but what they're doing is legal.

I am a bit miffed.....
It is quite obvious that Sears made an error. A 19 inch TV for $29. Everyone here knows its a great "too good to be true" price.

Now, I can see wanting to get the TV because it is a great deal. Heck, my DS has wanted a TV of his own for over 4 yrs. Looking at this price, his birthday being next weekend, I was thinking "sure lets get him one".
Although I have 5 kids, it would never dawn on me to buy all 5 kids a TV. At that great price, I'd be lucky to say I got one. I certainly would not be greedy to buy more than one.

Also, because it was an obvious mistake, I would not be up in arms about Sears cancelling the transaction. I doubt that selling hundreds of TVs at 1/4th the price is a "drop in the bucket" for Sears or any other department store. Also, going to the store to look for "some stupid salesperson" in hopes they don't catch it.....well that just seems wrong.

Those who were able to get it at the deal - good for you!! You got lucky!!! Those who did not, sorry... but I don't think Sears intentionally tried to ruin your day. I can't see how calling a TV station, etc because you are upset is really going to help anything.

Most of you are probably aware that this was an error and are trying to take advantage of the deal. How would you feel if you make a mistake and someone was trying to take advantage of you? I mean a lot of you sell on Ebay.

Anyway, nothing against taking advantage of a great deal, but to be so upset over an obvious error, taking it that personally, and trying to take advantage........well it just doesn't seem right.

I ordered the tv on sunday I recieved a email confirming my order right away. Now I am just waiting for the pick up email. Funny thing, when we were unable to order online the day before my DH called our local sears and asked if the tvs were in stock. We were told yes but they were not the sale price. But when I ordered it online it said 17-19 days for pick up. I have a feeling I won't be getting a tv. I am so mad, like everyone has already said there is no excuse for not taking the tv off their website.

I would have thought they would have fixed the system after I scammed them a few christmasses ago. I was surffing for a ps2 and found the tv screen that you slide the ps1 into, so you can watch it in the car and play it anywhere. for $9.99. So after thinking about it for a couple of days I ordered two. Told some of my friends who had them, ordered again. then it was gone for a couple of days, I called they said it was no loonger av. So I called the wish book number and she said I could get two more total $99.99 each, No thank you. So the next day they were back up. I put in an order for two more. The next day the screen was up for $99.99 But I got six for my son and friends at ten bucks each. I tried to get in on this but was away all weekend. I'm sure my sears will have them. I'm going to the big city today and I will stop just to see. Have a great day. Mum of two pirates

well said!

I ordered one and have my email. when/if i get an email saying to pick it up, great. If they cancel it fine, i didnt lose a thing.

Just called Sears corporate 1-847-645-5100. It says number is not in service but they will connect you. Of course I spoke to some weinie who says speak to Sears.com. In othe words, we've been hung out to dry. Call your local consumer watch and complain @
bbbonline.org.

I rec. my confirmation email. No cancellation email but when I checked online, my order showed up as cancelled. But the charge has went through. So I will be calling and complaining. Sears will be losing alot of business over this. I know my dh and his family (all carpenters) buy their tools, etc from Sears--but not anymore. I hope by everyone not going there over this, that it will HURT them financially.

Lets all stay up to date on where everyone is at on getting their tvs.

It is one thing to make an error, but to have it up and selling for 3-4 days, well that isn't right....They should honor the ones they sold. Just like the rooms people got for .89 a night...they took a major loss, but in the end they got some loyal customers for honoring their mistake. JMO

You know I probably would agree if not for the way they are handling it. They could put up a notice on the main page or in electronics about the pricing error. This had been on the site for days. Anyone can take something off the net in minutes, but leaving it there for days?
Then lying to ppl about their cc's?? Whats that all about? :confused3

Bottom line had they taken it off immediately and posted a note to the website about the pricing error then fine. I would have been disappointed but not mad. Now I am mad. You think a huge company like Sears would have much better Customer Service.

Okay, I have my confirmation e-mail BUT - when I check order status I get the "no orders were retrieved", and I used a debit card to pay - but when I checked the automated 'teller' just now, there's no recent transaction on my card. So I guess I'm not getting a Mickey TV :(
