Disney Trip Withdrawal

I'm sure everyone has this problem but I am definitely going through Disney withdrawal. We had a fabulous trip even though we only spent 2 days in the parks.

I think it's extra bad this time because this is our third trip in three years and I'm pretty sure DH is at his limit for a while. I can't blame him - he's been a great sport the past few trips. Disney isn't really his thing but he goes because I love it. I'm guessing it'll be a while before we head back to DLR or WDW.

He's already commented that HE gets to plan the next trip to someplace he wants to visit. :)

How does everyone cope with their post-trip recovery?

It's depressing. I hate it. I dive into my pictures and work on an album and start planning the next trip. :(

Yes I understand what you are going through. I'm having huge withdrawals this year as it's the first in 4 years that we won't be going to a Disney Park. I just keep looking forward to both trips we are taking in 2015. May to WDW and July to DL.

I am in a constant state of withdrawal haha! To get myself through it I usually plan our next trip or fake plan WDW and international Disney park trips, look at our pictures, listen to the park music CD in the car, and watch Disney movies. The kids and I will play the Disneyland Kinect game and Disney trivia games. I also read this board and follow a few Disneyland Facebook pages.
The only cure for Disneyland withdrawal is another visit to the park...

I miss Disneyland California - I don't think I have had one day of not thinking about it since I last went in 2006 - next year is 'the' year!

Fake planning - I'm so glad I'm not the only one!

Its so fun! While recovering from my back surgeries I had all kinds of Disney dream trips planned. Its a nice way to escape mentally!

1 word: Youtube!

There's this one youtuber that regularly makes Disneyland vlogs. Not sure if we're allowed to promote other websites/people (if so, I apologize, mods, just delete my post :p) but their username is freshbakeddisney you should totally check them out! They upload a video pretty much once a day, very good for Disney withdrawals

:thumbsup2

There are some gorgeous high definition videos on YouTube (check out the World of Color ones!), sometimes it feels like I'm there!

Great tip! I never thought to check out World of Color!

I sooo understand. We have been back almost three weeks and we are all wishing we could go back. Reading this board is like torture but it gives me a bit of a fix ;) We probably won't be going back for a minimum of two years so there is no use planning anything :(

Our next trip to DL won't be till early 2017, but that doesn't stop me from planning. For me it's more about concentrating on saving the money for the trip, as well as a solo trip later that year in Las Vegas for myself, just to visit a new place I've never visited. I've got my DL souvies in my office to look at, so that keeps me focused on the trip. I have to a certain degree always keep focused on the trip, even though it's a while away, as it makes me aware of how much I need to save up for it. And keeps me focused on my ongoing saving for the trip.

I still have Disney withdrawal and it's been almost a year since our trip. It does get better with time though. I slowly talked DH into another trip but it had to be two years in between. I started saving immediately. Disney is the only thing I can save for! :) To help my Disney Depression I made a photo book. That was fun! It was like reliving my trip. I worked on it on and off for almost a year. I read lots of posts on this forum. I've started a word document for "must do" activities and restaurants for next time.

I'm sorry your husband wants to do something different on vacation; what is wrong with him?! ;)

... Reading this board is like torture but it gives me a bit of a fix ;) ...
My very first trip after finding this board, I actually couldn't come here for a few weeks after my trip. I was so sad that my trip was over and I didn't want to read about other people's plans. :lmao:

It's better now and I usually start fake planning like other people. Sometimes my fake planning turns into real planning and I love staying on top of all the news and changes.

I am also in a constant state of withdrawal unless I'm in the parks. I like to plan, read trip reports, and help answer questions here. :goodvibes There's nothing like a good trip report with LOTS of photos to help with the symptoms of withdrawal. :thumbsup2

I "fake" plan although I call it dream tripping. I also pour over every trip report on this website. I look at every picture we have ever taken in the parks. I watch every video there is. Which by the way there are a few on Amazon Prime! I also by accident found out that my Samsung smart TV has a Disney app that as my 20 year old daughter says has all sorts of Disney commercials! I also buy myself a bunch of smaller souvenirs that when it gets really bad I can pull something new out. I have enough antenna toppers that I can change mine every month of the year. Now, my oldest and I are planning a trip for 2015 and that is helping me a whole lot!

I hang out here to get my fix. I missed going this year, but as my kids are older now I recognize that it is important to have other types of vacation experiences as well. But we are all excited to plan for the 60th anniversary! Knowing that it's going to be every two to three years between visits I have to just adjust my expectations...and enjoy my photos on the computer as I sip the coffee that's in my Disneyland mug. :surfweb:

Totally get it! It's only been two months since our last trip and I was go back TODAY if I could. My husband has a Disney limit though. Plan is for end of next year :(
