I am frugal. I have purchased Disney Vacation Guides (Birnbaum, Frommers etc.,.) as they go on sale. I can't honestly say that I have found ANY information in these books that I haven't read on the Disney web sites ESPECIALLY THIS SITE!

Is it worth it to buy these vacation planning guides? Right now, my attitude is, I'd rather put the book money towards a character meal. SOMEONE CHANGE MY MIND PLEASE! Thx

I have several guides, I use both the guide and the web as they complement
each other, if I see something on the board I put it in the margins of my book
and If someone needs information I dig it out and look up and see if I can
possibably help that person. You can never have to many book's or too much
web information, It fun with both...

I use them because descriptions of everything can be found at a glance. If I were simply to use the computer, each time I wanted information I would have to turn on the computer, sign on to the internet, and then go to the site. I use both the books and the net because the net has so much more information then can be packed into a book. Plus, I use the Unofficial Guide touring plans because with my school schedule, I have to go during summers or holidays. These come in handy, especially the clip out ones, which I haven't found specifically on the net thus far. The books also come in handy when I am talking to my parents about WDW, because they like to read them when they feel like it - they do not like using the net that much. (I am the complete opposite.)

I think the Birnbaum's Official Guide and the Unofficial Guide are both very good and especially useful to new visitors. I used to buy these books each year we went down, but since we have found this website I have not purchased either book as there is so much valuable info right here from folks that have been there many many times....I like to read their experiences and have learned a lot even though I have been there many times myself.

I use both the Passporter and this site. I have found both to be invaluable to me in planning trips to Disney. I take the Passporter with me to Disney so if I need to find something out while Im there and I have no access to the internet it I just look in the Passporter. It also has lots of great pockets in the back for storing lists I have made of information from here, places to write in information about PS's etc... I have several other books too but find I use the Passporter almost exclusively when I either cant get to the internet to check here or if I need to look up something quickly and don't have time to search the boards for it.

I used the Unofficial Guide and these boards and got WAY more information than a person really needs to plan a vacation to WDW. I wouldn't invest any more money in guide books. Anything you could ever possibly want to know can be found on the DIS... just ask and you shall receive :)

Yes I love my Passporter. in fact I just ordered
the new one that is sorta binder type, hope I
can fit all the information I carry in it. The old
one is bulging with notes and stuff, but it's
a life saver, I suffer from Disneyitis and
when I get there I can't remember who, what where or
when..So it's a must to carry all my information
or we would miss out on all the dinner (ps)
Special breakfasts and all the good stuff,
that I plan for that perticular trip..
The next one will be a treasure hunt. With each one
haveing to buy a treasure from certain places
in the different parks, The only stipulation
is that the prize has to be under $ 3.00.
Should be a challenge, got the idea from a great
person from here, and will adapt it to suit us..All
adults what a hoot....Her's was a scavenger hunt
and it gave me the idea so I downloaded her
program I just wish I remember to thank her
But alas I was stupid and ungracious
and did nothing but take and take from this site...

I like the guidebooks because I can tote them around and read them whenever I feel like it. The DIS is great when I'm near the computer, but it won't do me much good when I'm in Florida with no internet access. I'll print useful stuff from the website and fold it into the guidebook to take with me to the parks.

I work at a library - so I just borrow most of the books I want and then I might buy the one I like the most - so I get varied information - with out spending the dollars -but this site is my biggest (and favorite) source of up to date info though!
