disney transportation

wow, i was just at disney world nd i hate the transportation the buses are always late at the resort and magical express has the slowest drivers in the area. so post your opionions here

Not sure what you're talking about. We were in Disney a couple months ago and thought they run a seamless operation as far as transportation goes. What do you mean they were "late"?? This isn't the subway - you do understand that right?? They don't have a timetable for different stops. You seem like one of those people who should probably rent a car or take a taxi everywhere - which is fine since it'll be one less family in front of us on the bus!

We can't complain about the transportation either. I think Disney does a great job getting people back and forth to where they need/want to be. We've used DME only once but don't have any complaints there either. We're taking our nieces (ages 13 and 11 time of trip) May '08, and I told my husband I want them to have the whole experience. To me that means using DME and not renting a car. I always thought as kid when we used Mears that it was neat getting on that big bus and getting dropped off at our hotel -it really did seem more magical. I will have my first grandbaby in January '08 and can't wait until he/she is old enough to go!!

All in all the transportation is good. Some resorts are better than others.. the better the resort, better transportation you get.
My only complaint is for the MK from POP... you will have Epcot ( which is closer) AK, MGM,a lot of times coming back again before you get another MK Bus. It also seems they take the "Scenic Route" to and from. When we use the car... we take a different route and it is 10-13 minutes quicker.:car:

I do wish the buses could at least drop you off at or near the gates instead of hoofing it from the "Bus Corral". :faint: I can handle catching it from the Corral.. just would like to be able to "Get to the action quicker" !!!!::mickeyjum :tigger: :dumbo: :goofy: :tinker:

I disagree with your statement about better resort better transportation. Dont get me wrong I LOVED the monorail for MK and Epcot, and the bus was ok for MGM. But the bus for AK took forever to come to CR!!!!! Maybe it was an off day but it was a very looooong wait for that one. Only going not coming back from anywhere either. We missed a lot of EMH bc of this.

I talked to my friend who was at POR 2 weeks after us and she said the buses ran great they never waited!

I've not had any complaints about the busses. In fact I really enjoy not having to drive anywhere. It's a nice break.

I have been totally blown away by the transportation system. I am hooked on staying on propery and taking the disney transportation. It is not perfect, but it just makes the trip alot more enjoyable than renting a car. My new phrase is Hakuma Matata. No Worries, just relax and wait awhile!

I have only had a problem with Disney transportation once. I was staying at WL in 2002. We were waiting for a bus to downtown Disney. After 45 minutes, I contacted the front desk, to tell them the problem. They immediately got a WL van to take me and my family downtown. Is that service or what!!!

we use to stay off site to save money several years back I got us a deal at pop to stay two nights, we got on the bus and from that day forward DH said he would work OT if he had to so we could stay on site and save the driving and parking, he said he was so wore out after driving around Dis in our car and parking way out in north forty and waiting for a hot tram it would be worth it, several years later we purchased into SSR and love it, we drive in and a week or two later we drive out stress free. The traffic outside of Disney and onsite has gotten so heavy it is sometimes like driving through Atlanta just not worth it maybe it is middle age hitting us but real nice to let someone pick up and drop you off almost at your door, after a long day in a hot park or after a late fireworks show.

We loved Disney transportation. No hassle, no directions, No cost, just hop on and relax in the air conditioned buses. The ME buses to me where the signal that our magical vacation had started. I could care less if they where put putting I was going to Disney world after months of waiting. We had one moment where we where waiting for a bus to get to Epcot from pop and it took the bus 1 hr to get to us don't know what happened but It was ok we made it to the EMH hrs.We just got our ME package and im so excited.

So sorry to hear that you had a bad experience w/ WDW transportation! :(
I have to honestly say that all the times we were down there we never ran into any problems... I loved it and thought it was very convienient.
At the end of the day we saw bus lines for the value resorts that were very very long but the buses came right behind one another (if they werent lined up already) to take them back to the resorts.
As for the ME; we didnt mind that either.

I have waited for rides longer then I have waited for buses, boats or any other transportation disney had to offer.

we gotta disagree here, you're all joking right? the transportation stinks!!!!!idc whut u guys do but me and my family are never usin disney trans again!

My dh and I love the ME. My dh says it makes so much more a vacation that he doesn't have to drive. We have never had any problems with the buses in the four trips we have been to WDW. We actual found the system to be great.
I am sorry you had such a bad experience but give it another try.

We had a simular situation last spring (2006). We had gone to WDW to see the Braves play and had asked at the front desk (check in) and again by phone from our room on how to get to the Disney WW of Sports and were told 2 different ways (both of which were incorrect) but we ended up in DTD waiting for a bus only to find out there wasn't one. Just so happened a Disney CM official looking man (in dress shirt with tie and dress pants was at the bus depot there at DTD and heard us pondering what to do next. He came over introduced himself and atfer hearing our dilema got on his handheld 2way radio and found out how we were to get there, which was a bit complicated so instead he offered to get us a van to take us direct to the WW of Sports so we wouldn't be late. My husband who up to this point had been very frustrated (putting it mildly):rolleyes1 ... now he was in awe that the CM had gone through that much trouble to make us happy:cool1:
and the Braves were playing the Dodgers that day so it was great for both of us:banana:

I found Disney transportation to be very efficient. I never waited long for a bus from the resort. One time we waited at Epcot. I am on vacation. I want to be relaxed and not worry about time. When I knew I had to be some where at a certain time, I left early, or took a taxi( which was only $7 for a van for 8 of us). When at Disney, I do not want to run around at the speed of light, I do that at home.

So it's only $7 or so to take a taxi from the parks to one of the resorts? Is this in general everyone's experience? I think that would totally be worth it at the end of a long day - especially with the money we're saving by NOT renting a car!

Ok so where else do you go on vacation and get FREE reliable transportation to every spot you have to get too?
Slow drivers? They are at a theme resort with millions of people, half of them children, it's not supposed to be Jeff Gordon at Dover speedway. Sure some times the buses take longer or are crowded, let's remember it's real life not a scene out of cars.

We go at least 3 times a year and think the transportation is great.

Nine previous trips and one coming up in a few days and I can count the minor problems we have encountered with WDW transporatation on one hand. We really have nothing to be upset about.

You asked for opinions and people shared theirs... the overwhelming consensus being people appreciate it. I'm sorry you didn't get the response you were looking for and I hope you find a suitable alternative your next trip that doesn't compromise the safety of the other guests.

goofy_kid, I'm kinda curious here: What would make disney transportation better? What were your expectations of it?
