Disney transportation and bag check lines for rope drop

Is it still possible to take Disney transportation from the resort and make it through security in time for rope drop or do I need to think about renting a car? We've always done it in the past but don't know about the new security lines.

We'll be staying at various resorts and heading to each of the parks on different days in mid-late August.

Buses start running WELL before the parks open. No need to drive yourself to try and make rope drop.
