Disney + Trading Spaces

I have to agree, if Hilde showed up to do my house, I would have to say show's over. Find someone else. The episode that sticks in my mind with her is when she painted the furniture, not wood furniture, bur fabric furniture. Luckily the rain ruined it and she had to buy all new furniture and it wasn't too bad. But I would hate to return and find my furniture painted.

Hey Ratpack~
yep, that's the one I'm talking about.... there was another one where she painted a chair black and then painted big flowers on it... yuck! JMO, & not my style, but then to each their own.... I would die if she painted my fabric furniture.... wood furniture, that's a different story.. sometimes it looks better.

I can't wait to see the Disney episode either!! How fun is that going to be?!!! It is perfect that Frank is one of the designers. Who is the other?

Has anyone gone on the TS board?...Hilde bashing goes on big time over there!!:)

They get plenty of mileage from her episodes, and Doug brings up a close second. They even have names for a lot of the home owners, like Crying Pam - The lady who burst into tears when she saw Doug's room. Although, even tho I'm not a big brown fan, I thought that room was nice. A definite improvement over what they had to start with. The wainscoting was beautiful and Ty did a great job on the fireplace. On the board on TLC, friends of hers said she was looking for a country room ala Frank...but evidently Doug was told they wanted a contempory feel to the room:)

I hate to see really disapointed homeowners, I hope the Diney people are happy with theirs.

My wife loves this show, worst Hilde room ever, straw on the wall.

When Vern came to a show in Charlotte, he made mention that the designers have access to a video tape that the homeowners puttogether stating what they would like and not like. He mentioned that "some" of the designers don't even look at them figuring they are designers and know what is best for a room. Didn't mention which ones these were but I think we can guess two of them.;) Also said that they do not stay around to see what the homeowners reaction is.

Ok, I agree that the face on the wall was tacky, the flower bathroom was hideously bright, but what about Hilde's wine labels on the wallpaper kitchen in the house of the people WHO DO NOT DRINK ANY ALCOHOL. Talk about not worrying about the homeowners' opinions.

I'd take Frank first, then a tie between Vern and Laurie. I'd be VERY cautious with Doug and FORGET Kia and CRY HISTERICALLY WITH HILDE. Please don't let her touch my house!:Pinkbounc

My daughters boss at WDW is one of the houses that was done. She can't wait to see the show. The boss showed pictures of what they did but my daughter wanted to be surprised.

Safety, what is your daughter's boss' name? We met a CM when we were down in February that was having her room done on TS.

I know Holly posted the date of the one I am talking about, but the search function is disabled.

Hey Ratpack-
Did you get to see Vern when TS was in Charlotte? Do they make appearances outside the shoe while there? I wish some of the crew appeared on more talk shows, I'd love to hear what they have to say about the reactions on some of the shows;)

On the TLC board, it seems to be be a very talked about subject... the fact that Hilde especially does not stick around for home owners reactions. That just seems so rude. I know the participants agree to play by the rules of the show, but Hilde's rooms seem so over the top and impractical, the kind of rooms that look like no one would ever actually BE IN them:)

A few weeks ago, she said right on the show "oh well, if they don't like it, I'm outta here, anyway". That was the black dining room with the egg-yolk yellow dining room set:eek:

a couple of months ago i saw a disney trading spaces. It wasn't that intresting too me. i for get who did the rooms and all, but i know i saw that episode.

I saw a Changing Rooms episode that redid two rooms for Disneyland Paris employees. It was pretty good. I love both CR and TS. I think it will add an interesting dynamic when they start using entire families. Kids normally don't hold back so hopefully they will have the guts to say painted fabric doesn't feel good and puke green or brownish/tangerine walls are not cool.

Anyway I think Ty Pennington is hot too. The new guy Carter Oosterhouse I haven't seen in an episode but he is very handsome. I also think that Andrew Dan-Jumbo from the While You Were Out Crew is really cute. My husband thinks I watch these shows for decorating tips ;) LOL

Also info on the TS episode at WDW is here:

I didn't actually see him, but he was at one of the home and garden shows here. One of the local radio hosts got to meet him and was giving out the info. Amy Wynn came to Charlotte also but it was several months before Vern, had to miss her as well. They always seem to do this stuff when I am at work.

That's her! Definitely a small world. :)

We met her through a couple CMs that we know.

we'll be watching too!!

i love trading spaces. my DH got me hooked on it...her told me he didn't like the show, but that was when the old host was on it. when i took my month and a half off from work, i watched trading spaces every day...i've gotten him hooked on the show now though. we watch it all the time!

i can't stand hilde...i think there may have been one room that she's done that i have ever liked. doug scares me. i love frank (i heard this was his last season with the show though), laurie, and vern. kia frightens me but i do have to say that i like andrew or whatever his name is (the new male designer). he does listen to what the homeowner's want and what his team wants to see. gen's ok too...some of her stuff is a bit out there, but i still like her. i don't think there has been a room that vern has done that i haven't liked! i LOVED the room he did for the little boy a while back...with all the planes, trains, and cars...

Just saw that next Sat. at 9:00 p.m. Trading Spaces is going to Disney. I'm not sure what they are going to do, but I did see Donald and Mickey. Maybe they are doing something at Celebration. Either....

Hildie will be changing Cinderella's castle into a big pink cake and Doug will be applying a Nightmare before Christmas theme to the Haunted Mansion.

;)

I like Paige too....because she was on tour in Beauty and the Beast. I still think she would make a very nice Belle. I hope she gets to do musicals again soon.
