Disney Tower Of Terror

The first time I rode it was a little different, as I had never been on a ride like it before. The second, third, etc. was pretty average, because I new what to expect. If you don't like that feeling in your stomach when you drop, then you wouldn't like this ride. Not real terrifying, but super, super fun. One of my favorite rides at DL.

it's not really that bad but then again i went to magic mountain when i was little so these rides don't bother me. took my then 8 year old on it and she didn't scream or cry but vowed never to do it again(little does she know i'm taking her on it next trip). the big thrill i'd say is the unknown. it's dark and you just drop. then go up and then just drop. i'd highly recomend to just get on this ride and do it once.

I was nervous the first time, as a matter of fact I went to DLR by myself right after it opened (ToT)and I wouldn't get on it. However I go annually with my friend and she always makes me try everything once and when I finally got up the nerve, we had a great time. Yep, I was screaming the entire time, but had a blast and really wasn't terrifying more exhilerating. I love the ride now and have been on both (WDW and DLR). I think, like with any ride, the unknown is the most terrifying, but I've yet to find a ride a will not get back onto.

Well, it's not really a drop, it's a pull. :)

And to me, that makes it feel different. In fact I felt like it was different while on it, before knowing that you're pulled down, not dropped in a free-fall situation.

I have been on the falling rides and it's just a different feeling, to me.

When I'm on it, I'm more amazed than scared really, especially when there's a pull (not drop, LOL) that causes necklaces to go up (if you saw the Samatha Brown Disney Favorites special, you see her necklace rise up to her mouth while riding), bags that you're gripping to rise into the air, and so on.

I think it should be tried.

And knowing that you're being pulled down, not dropped, might help you out. :)

I loved this ride... and rode it in the dark which was really cool to see the lights over DCA when they open the doors at the top... I rode as a single... and got seated in the front row with a ton of yelling frat boys, and it was still fun...

If you don't like that feeling in your stomach when you do drops then it is terrifying! I hate that feeling and, I was shaking so much after that ride. I don't picture myself on it again. I also don't go on Splash Mountain for the same reason. I really wanted to see the ride though so I pushed myself on. It is very short and it is smooth so that helps. Try it once and you may love it but even if you don't you will proud you did it and lived!

I went on it for the first time out last trip..... i hadn't been to disneyland since it opened......... and it was great we had alot of fun!!!! I'm alittle nerver racking at first but its lots of fun!!!

The first time I did it I was TERRIFIED!!!!! Soooooo scared! But I've done it over and over and now it doesn't scare me at all. :)

It didn't bother me, but then I don't mind drops. Not my favorite, but it was fun.

I have finally got up the courage to try the next time I go. I'll be riding it with my dad. Mind you, I'm 27 and he's 56 :lmao:

I found the ride a riot = fun. I loved that 'floating' feeling when falling down First went as a single, as the kids and fiance were 'no way'.
WHat made me laugh was staying at the DLH, the kids were always jumping up in the elevator before it stop (going down or up). This was my crux to get my youngest son (8) to go on the ride. He did do the ride with oldest girl (11) and was 'terrified': wouldn't let go of my hand/arm, but as soon as it was over he stated "lets do that again. I took it that my son didn't like the spookiness and disorientation that you go through before the ride part.

Oh, when you describe it that way it doesn't seem so bad. I'm working up my courage do to this one as well as Screamin' . My 11 yo ds really wants to go but is very considerate and wouldn't pressure me or make me feel guilty (though I still do!). Have to admit that I don't care for the feeling in my stomach during drops but can tolerate it.

I am very curious about the theming. Is there a chicken exit so the rest of our party can walk through the themed queue with us?

I thought it was a lot of fun, and it's true, things will definatley "hang" in the air. I had my purse firmly between my legs and wow, once we dropped, it floated right up in front of my face and I could not get it down!

I went on this with my adult niece and we had a great time. However, my adult daughter is scared of elevators and she will never go on this ride with me, that's for sure! If you have any issues with elevators, I would certainly not reccomend it. It's one of those rides where you hear yourself screaming before you realize it's you doing it! Now, that's my idea of a fun ride!

My Mom went on it last year with my Dad and DBF, and she is the BIGGEST chicken EVER when it comes to thrill rides, and she was hysterical laughing and screaming at the same time, she thought it was a blast, but vowed never again.

She also went out Screamin' and vowed never again on that one...

i haven't been on this ride but the idea of being pulled instead of dropped would make me believe it's even worse then just free falling.

Actually it does not feel that way. It feels more controlled. I have had many jumps over the last 40 years and the only ride I can remember feeling that way is a MM Valencia. Just a very fun ride.

I just love TOT. I am not a thrill ride kinda girl but the sensation of falling doesn't bother me and I feel so energized when I exit.

Unfortunately this is one of the only rides that is done better at WDW than at DL. It's almost a whole other ride entirely (more drops, more images)..and so my favorite TOT is at DHS.

Yes, controlled is a good way of describing it.

VegasMike21, this is what goes on in my head. If you're being pulled, all they have to do to stop it is to stop pulling. If you're dropping, it scares me more b/c you have to rely on something *stopping* you. With being pulled, that mechanism is already "there".

Might all be mind games with myself, but it really does feel different, physically and mentally.

I do NOT like the falling rides. I went on one once at Great America and HATED it. DH says he's going on Maliboomer this time, if he fits (he couldn't ride in Sept b/c of his belly and heavy back, since they couldn't get the center clip, from the harness to the seat, clipped) and the idea of him being on it makes me ill. Just to think of it does that to me, let alone riding it.

But TOT is great. :)
