We are going to disney in January and want to spend two days at universal. We will not have a car. What is the best way to get to and from?

I am doing this Jan 13th and I have decided to take a taxi. More money but you are in complete control of when you leave. I think will save at least an hour or more and while on vacation I think it is well worth extra money. Plus if going to MK you can ask the taxi to drop you off at the Contemporary and then you have a short 5 minute walk to MK vs having the shuttles drop you off at the transportation center. (Thats another 15-20 minutes wasted time. Unless you really like to take the monorail of course.)

I would take a taxi or use Uber. We'll be going from WDW to Universal next week and will take Uber. The fare is cheaper than a taxi, includes tip, and charges your credit card or PayPal so need to worry about having small bills for tips, etc. We love the service.

We took taxis to universal from art of animation last month and it was $40 each way including tip for the 2 of us. was the best option for us as we wanted to be able to easily decide when to come and go at whatever time we wanted.

Thanks for the info on fare! I think that's what we are going to do this trip. We don't have a car this time as there are 6 of us and renting a van was too much money. Much cheaper to get car service from airport then take taxi. I also like having the freedom to go when we want.

I used Tiffany towncar last trip and booked them again for our thanksgiving trip. It was 130 for pick up from airport and then a ride another day from us to bwi at wdw. Since there are 5 of us it's not cheap for a shuttle. Plus we get a grocery stop that probably saves us 15-20 bucks over gift shop priced snacks.

A couple notes on Uber, Mears has a contract for Disney, Universal, the airport and the convention center. Nobody but Mears is allowed to wait at any of those locations for pickups, you can call other people in and if you see another cab company dropping off someone you are allowed to "hail" them but they can't sit and wait for potential customers. This MAY impact the time it takes for someone to come pick you up if you use Uber, especially if you are doing it from a resort.

The other thing is that all cabs except for Mears must pay parking fees (thus passing it off to you) to enter theme park parking at Disney. This isn't an issue if they are carrying current resort guests, but will be an issue if you aren't a resort guest.

Not trying to scare you away from Uber, just things to be aware of.
