Disney to cancel FPs if room is cancelled

I’ll just go ahead and re-state that this thread has served it’s purpose...:rotfl2::rotfl2:

I’m not saying the thread needs to go away but nothing new or of value has been posted for days maybe hahaha. I’m just here for the popcorn:: and bad advice now :)

It still hasn’t been confirmed yet either.
Yeah - I guess what I’m trying to say is nobody should be handing out advice to people on what to do with their split stay or whatever else they’re doing until something is confirmed. And none of us truly know what Disney’s intent is behind this either although many seem to be acting pretty authoritative about it.

At this point we're waiting to see cancellations within 30 days that result in cancelled FPs (or not). Along with a variety of 'sort of' cancellations like DVC waitlists to see if the FPs remain (or not).

So the thread is still useful as a conduit of actual information when it comes in...but I agree that the signal to noise ratio has been low of late.

Cancelling and rebooking is pretty common for several reasons.
1. A way better deal pops up, maybe you get that deluxe for close to what you were paying for a moderate.
2. Finances change and that value is a way better deal.
3. Military room rates become available.
4. About a million other reasons.

I have no idea how many people were abusing this practice, but many, many people cancel and rebook for completely legitimate reasons.

I just rebooked twice in two days. DD and I are planning to go down for the Star Wars Half. DH has a conference at CS, but wasn't sure if he was going. So, DD and I booked Pop with our tickets on the package.

DH decides to go to conference, but CS is not showing as available. So, we book POR, but change to a room-only reservation since he won't be doing the parks with DD and me.

On Monday, he is able to book CS, but only for the actual nights of the conference and not the Saturday before. I am able to book just Saturday night. We now have two room-only reservations--both totally different numbers from our original Pop reservation, which was a package.

Our FP window opened today and DD was able to easily get 7DMT for the day and time we wanted. We aren't doing AK or HS, so I can't report on FOP or SDD availability. I have no idea if the new policy helped in easily booking our FPs, but I'm certainly not complaining!

I don't see why someone staying at a Universal hotel should get the same benefits as someone staying onsite Disney just because they *might* return to a Disney hotel or go to the parks while they are staying offsite. In your example, each of the Disney stays would access the 60 day window based on the separate check in dates. The 30 day window should apply when they are staying offsite, same as everyone else.
Disney would have to eliminate the rolling 60, I don’t see them doing that. Rolling 60 is not the same as 60 + 7 etc.

Oops...forgot my sarcasm emoji..if anything because of all the information in this thread it might make it even more difficult at 60...
60 days is already near impossible for some attractions. You should plan accordingly :)

Not to mention the wdwinfo article. For a website that doesn't allow discussion of so-called "loopholes", that article is a veritable how-to guide for booking FPs early. And given that most of us think (conjecture, but I agree with it) that the "leading reservation" "loophole" isn't getting fixed with any immediate changes... seems like WDWInfo told people how to "cheat" the system....

Are you saying that the article explained how to get fast passes at 60 days and then dump the reservation? If so, I didn't get that at all from the article. I was glad for the in depth explanation since this is a confusing topic.

Or are you saying it explains how to book a throwaway room and that is the "guide for booking FPs early" you disagree with? If so, it's not a loophole and it's allowed by Disney.

Either way it's nice to see discussion and have a place for information. I don't want to see it locked like so many other threads because people can't play nice.

Well, on TP forum, for about a week now, there is an actual post titled something about "Leading reservation got my Fps" (no offense to that poster, I know you are on here too ) So there are forums all over describing how to cheat, ppl just have to read up.
Hard to get FPs at 60+, are going to be even harder if this was all a rumor...
