Maybe. Or maybe a lot of people will get scared off and cancel bookings.
Cancel bookings, why? I would assume the vast majority of those concerned about the virus and promask would also be getting vaccinated. If they're vaccinated it shouldn't matter who's aroumd them???

I'm somewhere in the middle of the pendulum and am vaccinated.

I know there's not a vaccine for kids, but the risk is also much less.

Disney has proven that this has not curved demand for bookings and we will see a pent up demand for summer 2021. I think international travelers are far more cautious than domestic ones.

Kids are not eligible for the shot. My wife and I are vaccinated. My 5 and almost 2 year old are not. The new strains seem to effect kids more. I really want to take them, but knowing that it is safe because everyone is masked is a big part of that calculation. I don't care if people take their masks off outdoors for photos, or honestly outdoors at all, but if they start relaxing indoor mask restrictions, or mask restrictions on rides, I'm out. I'm sure I am not alone in this.

Disney has proven no such thing. They currently have some of the best safety protocols in the nation. If they start to seriously relax those safety protocols while transmission is still really high, then we will see what happens.

By July the issue should be a non factor - whether the CDC acknowledges this or not. The distribution is moving at 2X rate of what was projected - herd immunity will be close by May.

Herd immunity requires roughly 70 percent (possibly more) of the population to be vaccinated. Currently 25 percent of the US is made up of children, and they cannot be vaccinated. So theoretically if more than 90 percent of adults were vaccinated, perhaps we would be in the herd immunity range, but we really aren't that close right now. To suggest that the issue would be a non-issue by July is making a lot of assumptions that could be possible, but at this point seem highly improbable.

You do know that despite being vaccinated, you can still catch covid, right? Here's an article of multiple people catching it in Orlando - https://www.clickorlando.com/news/l...ntract-covid-19-after-being-fully-vaccinated/ .

With the amount of people not wanting the vaccine I would be surprised if we hit 60% of adults being vaccines by the end of the year. To each there own but if people want hurd immunity they need to step up and get the shot.

And for those that are out, which is fine we all have the freedom to make our own choices for where we got and what we do, but there will be many also ready to go and will start booking trips.

So you are suggesting that the demand for booking has decreased? You are also suggesting that there will not be an increase in booking for summer 2021? No one has argued with Disney having some of the best safety protocols and they will start to relax them - sooner than later.

It was highly improbable just a month ago that we would be where we are now. At some point the pendulum swings, we are seeing that happen now.

Isn't the point being missed here? If you don't want to be around the issues - don't go. Fear is an ugly thing and this country has been under it for far too long - it changes people and not for the good. I choose to live and I'll take the risks that go along with that.

I agree. There are far more living life than being fearful right now. Our county fair is going on right now with no restrictions. The first full capacity event in north Fl and on Sunday there were just over 20K. Very few are wearing masks either and the midway when busy is shoulder to shoulder at times. It was so nice to go and enjoy the day. 97% is outdoors so still a bit different then Disney.

As soon as Disney switches masks to voluntary we will be there, may consider if only inside/lines/rides but not sure since my youngest will still make that really hard.

I can see that, but there's also a lot of people who are waiting to book their next trip only until they don't have to wear a mask anymore. I wouldn't be surprised that more people might fall into the group who will only return when mask rules are lifted than people who will cancel their trip because masks aren't obligatory anymore.

Either way, I personally doubt Disney is gonna face mass-cancellations with whatever they choose to do tbh.

The demand is there and Disney needs to test the waters prior to October - they need to have a policy in place prior to the 50th - one they can enforce and one that will help drive bookings - this is a simple fact. This summer will be that testing period, it started today with the no-mask photo rule and will quickly evolve. Disney needs to up the capacity by Summer. The 50th is Disney's chance to recoup some of its loses and it will surely do what it can to prepare for that.

FYI - Did anyone notice that Disney was hiring lifeguards for Typhoon Lagoon about 2 weeks ago? Hum, I wonder what that means...

I agree! There is no way Disney can enforce masks outside with the higher capacities. They struggle now and it is pretty much guaranteed that capacity is going to increase between now and oct 1.

If it’s the fair I’m thinking of, the masked up were definitely the minority.

The good news about Disney lifting mask restrictions is people can still wear them if they like. It won’t be tomorrow, but the mandate being lifted entirely is coming.

We were at Springs over the weekend and noticed far more people pulling their masks down or not wearing them all together. Various counties in FL have been maskless for months and are pretty much back to normal. People are just mask exhausted.

We’ve been to the parks and springs many many times and always abide by the rules but it will be nice to breathe again. :) Disney is the only place I’ve worn one.

Yes same as the flu, you can get the flu shot and still get the flu, though, usually much milder. I am of the mind set it's time we start taking more steps towards easing restrictions. Especially outside. Some strain of this virus will probably always be around, such as a different strain of yearly flu. We just have to take precautions that we feel right for ourselves and I 100% am ready to move on towards normal life again
