i WAS WONDERING IF IT WAS A FOREGONE CONCLUSION THERE WILL NEVER BE A TIMESHARE FOR DISNEYLAND. MY WIFE AND I LIVE IN CALIFORNIA WITH OUR 1 YEAR OLD AND HAVE BEEN TO DISNEY WORLD 3 TIMES IN THE LAST 3 YEARS. WE ARE DEBATING BUYING DVC BUT ARE WONDERING ABOUT THE PHEASABILITY OF GETTING TO ORLANDO EVERY YEAR.

ANY COMMENTS WOULD BE APPRECIATED

There was actually one on the planning boards a number of years back which I believe was for property Disney owned in the Newport Beach area. That plan was abandoned and the property was sold. At this point I would say it is highly unlikely as Disney believes its success in the program depends on limiting new resorts to the WDW property.

DVC actually owned the land and had announced the project. Slow sales at VB and HH seemed to be the reasons for the end. Marriott now owns the property and has developed it as a MVCI property. Werner on this site owns there. My guess is there will not be one unless it's actually directly at DL.

I thought that the reason they scrapped it was due to the fact that CA (or perhaps that area of CA) had a regulation that timeshares could not be Right-To-Use like the other DVC properties.

I've seen that information posted on this board several times, but I've never seen any evidence, such as a link to an authoritative news article or to a California regulatory agency's website. I'm not saying that it isn't true, but I'd really like to see evidence that it's a true fact and not just speculation that has somehow evolved into a "fact" as it was repeated.

Click here for Werner's article about the story behind the Newport Coast DVC site near Disneyland.

The problem with building a DVC resort within the Disneyland Resort is that Disney owns so little land there. Disney has one undeveloped piece of land on Harbor Blvd. that's over 50 acres, but the plan is eventually to build another gated park (theme park or water park) on that land. Disney also has some surface parking lots, but that land will probably be needed for future parking structures for the 3rd park. In comparison, DVD has access to vast, undeveloped, "free" land at WDW.
