Well I have to offer you a warning on this.
I've done this not once but twice to avoid the price increase, and both times got bit in the rear. The first time, after I purchased the tickets, they had the offer of buy a package, get free park hopping and water parks. That would have saved me considerably more than what I saved avoiding the price increase.
And the last time, after I purchased our tickets, they offered
free dining with the purchase of a package. Now I could have purchased a one day ticket to get this added, but not being sure when I'd get to use it next (if ever, since DH isn't a Disney fan like me), the price of those one-day tickets being way more than what I'd saved buying our tickets in advance, it still meant that I'd have ultimately saved more waiting to buy my tickets.
They did say that deals were going to dry up, but I will bet you dollars to donuts they aren't going away, just getting less intriguing. The free park hopper deal was during a good economic period, so unless you're going during a major peak period, before you buy tickets in advance to save money, I would do some historical research on package deals to see if you're risking missing out on even better deals.
