Has anyone bough them fom ebay? they are the best prices i've seen but how do you know they are autintic? I know there is feedback, but still. My husband thinks we should by off there... but what if they aren't good tickets is there a way to check before we go downt to FL?

I would not buy tickets on e bay in this life time or any other. It is the kind of thing that you just do not take chances on because it would cost you twice as much if you are burned.

It is too risky for me. The best rate for the tickets I needed were through a link in mousesavers.com's newsletter for ticketmania.

BTW, I don't believe there is any way to check your tickets until you get down there so you would be out of luck if they weren't any good.

it is very tempting---but very risky. you cannot check to see if they are authentic until you arrive on disney property, and if they are bad you are out of luck, no recourse. big deal, you leave bad feedback. you're still out the $$ and your vacation is damaged!

I made the mistake of doing just this - I bought a 4-day park hopper off of eBay for a 2002 vacation. When I got to Disney and put the ticket through the turnstile it showed an error. I had to wait in the customer service line (1 hour of precious time gone from my vacation), and found out that the ticket had expired!!! So there I was, having to spend an extra $200 to purchase a ticket. When I got home from the vacation I contacted the seller, and luckily he didn't give me any trouble and refunded my money. This lessen has taught me that I either purchase tickets at Disney, through AAA or at the Disney Store - period!!!!

I have had a couple of friends/family/neighbors ask me about buying tickets from e-bay and I always tell them the same thing. The great bargain that you think you are getting could turn out to be a very expensive mistake. Most people don't know that there is no way to check these tickets until they are standing in line at WDW to see if they are valid. I tell them to buy from Disney or a reputable broker like Ticketmania so they know what they are getting and how much it will cost exactly. My worst nightmare would be standing in line at WDW with invalid tickets and having to shell out full gate price for valid tickets. :guilty: So far I think I have talked everyone who asked me out of buying the tickets on e-bay. The temptation of getting these "bargain" tickets does not outweigh the very distinct possibility that you may be getting ripped off and ruining your vacation.

Hi Becca-

1-Others that have posted here now (and in other threads) have bought tickets from eBay, some have trouble & some don't.

2-While the price may look good, you need to be willing to pay gate prices for your admission if the tickets don't work. There is no way to check if they are authentic or if the tickets are usable.

3-Feedback is only one indicator of a good seller and you right to think twice about this. Disney tickets are clearly marked as being non-transferable and if someone is selling something that is not meant to be used my someone else, I personally wouldn't buy anything from them.

You can only use your best judgement and decide what is best for you & your family. Check out the discounts with some of the ticket sellers thru the Mousesaver's links, if you need the latest newsletter just PM me and I'd be happy to send it along.

GL with your planning! :)

Another thought about buying tickets on ebay. Disney now implements the finger scan on all tickets. If the tickets you buy were previously used, then the finger scan will be of the first user. Don't buy from ebay. Too risky. The best prices were from ticketmania. If you sign up for the newsletter on mousesavers.com you will get a cheaper price at ticketmania.

Thanks for the info i showed this thread and a few others to dh and we are going to buy from ticketmania, how are they on shipping? We were thinking of buying next week but dont' go down till 1st of sep.
Also thanks for the tip about mousavers.com off to subscribe for a news letter now! :)

I bid on "unused hopper passes" from a seller who had a no negative feedback. I won the auction and tried to contact the seller about payment. It took days for them to get back to me. In the interim two people posted negative feedback saying they had spend $500 and never received the tickets. I contacted the seller to let them know I wouldn't be paying unless negative feedback was resolved. It hasn't been.

Out of curiosity I looked at the Disney tickets people sell on eBay, never bought any though since we have annual passes. But some of the sellers have a ton of positive feedback. One over 3,000! Another over 1,000. They must be selling good tickets since they are being bought and used with no problems. I do agree with the risk involved. I myself would be too worried the whole time leading up until I entered the park! Not my idea of a relaxing vacation.

wow susan, that's very scary... but like said i wouldn't want to worry the whole trip till i got up to the gate... and even if it was sold as a 3 day ticket to me, i wouid worry every day that it might not work the next day...

Our neighbors bought theirs from someone on Ebay.....I warned them not to. But they actually had no problems. I thought about putting some I bought on one time because we got a package and didn't need tickets, but since they don't expire we kept them. (we've gotten package deals for the last 4 years! And still have the tickets in our safe deposit box!).

I bought tickets from ebay for my vacation this past june. I got a great deal $750 for five 5 day park hopper with no expiration and 3 plus visits. They worked fine, the lady had bought them the year before but was unable to go due to the hurricanes. However, I spent weeks after I bought them agonizing over the possibility that the tickets might not work. :sad2: This is because you can't tell really how many days are left, if any, until you get to the gate. I was a nervous wreck and will never do it again. BUT - I do have to admit I got a great bargain :cool1: but I don't think it was worth the uncertainty.

We did buy some APs (unused, not the previously used ones) off of ebay for the kids. The APs were purchased in 1990 something and had never been activated. They were only $60 per ticket so I decided to take a chance. They worked fine and now my kids are going to Disney for $60 each for the whole year.

But, yes, it was a risk. DH and I got our tickets at the gate (APs).

My neighbors always buy tickets from Ebay and they have never had a problem. Just make sure they aren't leftover hoppers because they now fingerscan as well. However, we saw at least four people (one at Blizzard Beach and 3 at the parks) that they asked about, they all got in but two were asked to just sign the back of the ticket.

Your husband is wrong! Trust your gut on this one.

As many other people have said, there's no way to check to see that the tickets are good until you're at the turnstiles. For example, I have several completely-used Disney tickets in my scrapbook. If I were dishonest, I could put them on ebay, spouting a very real-sounding story. Perhaps something like this: We bought 5-day hopper passes, but our child became ill mid-way through the trip, and we only used 3 days' worth. Our loss is your gain . . . You could check my feedback, and you'd see that it's 100% positive; however, the truth is that I've never sold a single item on ebay -- I've bought lots of stuff, and that's where my feedback came from.

Plus, I think all ebay tickets are a bit suspect for one big reason: Disney tickets never expire. I have hopper passes (locked in my safe) with one day remaining. These were originally 10-day hoppers and I purchased them in 2001; we've wheedled away at them, using 2 days here and 3 days there. It's a common way to stretch a dollar. Why would I sell you my one remaining day, which was purchased at 2001 prices? If I did, I'd have to turn around and buy myself new tickets at the higher 2005 prices. It's something to ask the seller.

If your tickets turn out to be invalid, Disney will not help you because their rules state that tickets cannot be re-sold. You'd be embarassed, you'd waste your time, and you'd have to buy a good ticket from Disney. And I wouldn't count on getting any money back from the seller.

Lots of people will only buy from Disney itself, and that is the 100% safe method. I think it's perfectly safe to buy from their approved vendors like AAA and ticketmania.com. But to buy from a stranger whose real name and address I might never know? I am very financially conservative, and I know a million ways to save, but this particular idea is too risky for me.

Disney tickets never expire.
This is actually no longer true, and I don't believe you can tell by looking at the newer tickets when they actually expire.
