If Disneyworld is forced to open at only 1/2 normal capacity due to social distancing, would anyone care to argue that they simply won't DOUBLE their ticket prices so they don't lose revenue? Their history of ticket price increases certainly proves they are not a charity! They will of course call it a "Safety Surcharge" or some other sweet sounding name.

Well I know there are many, including myself who wouldn't mind paying more for a less crowded park. Not sure about double though. But you do raise a good point. But I would only really not mind paying more for less people if the entire park was open like normal. And that might not be the case. Pay more for less people, but yet have a park that is not at 100%.

Disney isn't stupid. They know we're in the middle of a pandemic that has scared many people, and in a severe economic downturn that has made many people lose or fear for their jobs. They are not going to alienate the people who can still afford to go to WDW & who are not afraid by doubling prices.

The 50% rule will not last forever, either, likely for only a few months at most.

I wonder if they will only open one park each day OR certain section(s) of a park each day.

For example at WDW MK: Adventureland/Frontierland one day, Main Street/Liberty Square/and that small area of Philharmagic/Peter Pan/carousel/small world another day, Fantasyland/Tomorrow Land another day and then rotate/alternate.
Just escort people to those areas and make sure they don’t wander to other parts.

I would totally be willing to pay double or triple the price if it means only half as many people. Its really frustrating paying what the prices are now just to go to a park that is jammed full of people and every ride you want to go on is a minimum of 1 hr wait.

Why? Because confining all guests to one park or one part of a park is the best way to spread people out? That makes no sense when trying to social distance.

I mean, I believe on the earnings call they were pretty specific about the fact that when they reopen, they aren't going to be looking to make a profit in the early phases when capacity still has to be down due to precautions. What that looks like when they DO make the decision to open leaves a lot of room for interpretation, but no I don't think they will look to offset lower capacity with double or triple price tickets.

No because as a business it wouldn’t be economical to open and fully man every ride, attraction, store, restaurant. That’s only up front, not to mention custodial and IT and other backstage needs.
I would guarantee those planning reopening are sitting around talking more about how it can be done cost-effectively than how best to allow for guest comfort.

Also, a good many of the people that will be going to the parks when they first open at the lower capacity already have their tickets. So those in the 50% period aren't really the ones that would be affected....

If you read these boards there are plenty of tips that ensure you never wait an hour to get on a ride on even the busiest days of the year.

New to the forum – Googled "disney doubling prices" brought me here. I can say that they are pretty much doubling prices (for me anyway). We had a large family, 50th wedding anniversary, trip planned for the end of April this year and for obvious reason, it didn't go ahead. We've asked for prices for exactly 1 year ahead and it's gone from £9.7K to £17.4K. Flights are the same price. Not quite double but it feels like it with a 78% increase!!
(This is for Disneyland, Paris).
