Just back from my first trip. My boys, ages 13, 11 and 7, could not make it the whole day. We spent about 5 hours in the parks and went back to our pool home.

I was dying to go back to the parks but my kids didn't want to go. They were exhausted. Has anyone ever experienced this?

I wanted to go, go, go and my kids died on me!!

I find it exhausting for me too...we always go back and take a swim or rest at the pool everyday...

I am the go go go person in our family. My family says it's a scary sight to see me hovering over the beds, in the dark, fully dressed, with coffee in hand shouting, "Come on, everyone up!" :hyper: They said that all I'm missing is a whistle. Last trip, I had my itinerary to include EMH at every park, we did not make it to one. They all wanted to stay in bed and even asked to skip a day at the parks so that they could swim and just hang out. So, you are not alone:D . I do plan on trying to take it easier this trip, if I can, but I get soooo excited.:Pinkbounc

We came home from two trips to WDW not feeling like we had been on vacation. DH wanted to try and do everything, everyday. Once we figured out that we were going to be going back and that being exhausted was no fun, we learned to slow down.

We will start our morning without an alarm and let each other wake up on their own. We aren't in a hurry to get to the park and usually make it there by lunch. We spend the best part of the day there and then come back and relax at night.

This past trip, we did go to MK for a breakfast, did a couple of things and then went back to the room to rest for a while.

We also did MVMCP one night and took a break from the park that day until it was time to go over for that celebration.

I have enjoyed our past two trips so much more while being in the relaxed mode and not trying to do and see everything each time we go. I'm looking forward to our next trip and many more to come.::yes::

If DH can slow it down, I'm sure that you can too and you'll probably find that you'll enjoy it a lot better as well. I truly believe that he does now.

We've definitely had it happen to us. Our kids were 4 and 7 on our first trip-after a few hours in the theme parks, they were ready to go back to the hotel (FW Cabins) and just lie in front of TV and watch the Disney Channel (which we didn't have at home). On our last day, our older DS fell asleep and wouldn't even wake up for supper. To this day, DH and I go to WDW, see little kids at 9:00 at night and wonder how they do it. But our DS's are now adults and they still talk very fondly of their childhood trips to WDW. As long as they enjoy themselves, that's what it's all about.

My son was 9 when we took our first trip. He was able to do the parks all day and night. The few times we left the parks early, I had to force to take a nap.

I would open and close the parks DW and son after 6 hours would cave and go back to room. Not to much has changed over the years, now me and grandsons open and close the parks and DW and DS go back to resort after 5 or 6 hours.::yes:: :wave2: :wizard: :duck:

We head out early (I make everyone get up at "o dark:30" as they like to call it!) and we tour til about 2 or 3, then head back to our hotel. We may go out at night, or we may not. But as others said, once you've been a few times, you lose that idea that you have to run to everything. You really shouldn't come back from vacation exhausted!

I admit, I am a WDW drill sargeant. Luckily, it's only my husband that I force to get up at ungodly hours, and once he's in the parks, he's glad we got up so early.

This is going to be me! I fear for our future children! :o

I always say, if you don't come home totally exhausted, then you didn't have enough fun. ;)

I always need a vacation to recover from our vacations. :teeth:

I'm glad I am not alone.

My 7 year old and 11 year old did fit into a stroller. I finally figured that one out by the 4th day!

::yes::

As much as I love to go, go, go, I'm afraid I may have to slow down this time.:(

My sister just called a said that her and her family will be joining my son and I this time.:bounce: :Pinkbounc

Her kids will be 5(DD) and 6(DS);my son's 12. Her husband likes to sleep LATE and hates CROWDS. My sister said they are going to do whatever I want to do. Since they have never before they are depending on me to make sure they have a blast. I don't think we can do that unless we're IN THE PARKS WHEN THEY OPEN.:p

Oh well, we'll see what happens. I'm so exicted, this time I'll get to do all the girl stuff that my son isn't intersted in.

:yo-yo:

I posted this on the wrong thread, sorry.

Me too! I've learned to compromise, we do EMH, then a resort break then back to the parks. Dh wants it to be a "vacation". The funny thing is,I'm such a laid back person with everything else in life... :)
