Hi,

I'm on Oxygen and was wondering the drop-off process for a handicapped person at the terminal. I can walk short distances and have rented a scooter which I will get at the terminal.

Thanks

Possibly 2 option. One is get dropped off with luggage (maybe you will see a place for handicap drop-off. The traffic is often not so heavy or crazy at Port Canaveral as in Miami.

If you are parking at the port, Deck 3 of the garage is where the elevator is (you will need this for returning to your car at the end of cruise). There is a walkway over the street, where an elevator will take you down to check-in. I think you will have less than a city block to walk, max.

(In the photo below, the parking deck is on the right. You can see the walkway over the street, connecting parking from the Terminal.)

Once you have parked and walked across, take the elevator down to Ground floor for check-in. Then you put carry-ons through x-ray. Find another elevator or ride the escalator to the waiting area. Then roll onto the ship on a ramped, enclosed gangway.

From the Port Canaveral website:

Passenger / Luggage Drop-Off & Pick-Up

Arrival

For passenger safety, security, and convenience, please proceed directly to the Cruise Terminal to drop off passengers and baggage. Porters will assist you with your baggage, and parking personnel will direct drivers to the appropriate parking facility. All parking facilities are convenient, secure and patrolled 24 hours a day. Passenger and luggage drop off is available in front of the Terminal or in the parking facility.”

They should be able to direct you to a drop-off spot with the least walking required.

You'll need to contact DCL to ask specifically about wheelchair assistance at the port terminal. I believe it's similar to airports with the airlines providing the assistance -- in this case the cruiseline providing the assistance in the terminal. Usually the scooter rentals are waiting onboard.

I assume you also know that you need to contact DCL about the oxygen. Here is the contact info and a link to the Special Services Form.
