Hi,

I seem to remember reading somewhere that if you were booked in the campground, you could get a tent and such from WDW - that is, they would set up a tent for you, so you wouldn't have to bring your own. Is that true? And if it is, has anyone done this?

Thanks so much!

Not exactly. They used to have equipment available for groups, but I don't know if they do anymore and it wasn't for individuals.

They still have it, 30 bucks for a tent, not sure what size. and 10 bucks for a cot thing to sleep on.
It was in somthing I signed last time I checked in. But yeah, just call fort wilderness up and ask for availability.

I got my res packet today and yes you can rent a tent and they will put it up Sandra was right about the prices.

Thanks for your help. But I found out that it's $30 per night, and pretty soon, well, you've bought yourself a new tent :teeth: .

I wonder how reasonable it would be to just go to Walmart and buy a new tent . . . . .?

Our dome Coleman tent was only $40.....Coleman is very reasonably priced and you get the quality of coleman behind it.

We actually outfitted the four of us nicely at our Coleman store for less than $200 before taxes.

I would stick with Coleman and pay a bit more.

I bought a 5-6 person hex tent, I think GreatLand was the brand. Target had it on sale for 18$. What's scary is now the GreatLand 2-3 person hex tent is like 25$. The original price for it was 80 or 90$.
One of the best deals I ever got. On top of it being nice and roomy for the two of us, it was fairly easy to put up. Although Kari insisted on doing it herself which was a laugh and a half, she finally asked for help putting the poles into the hole cause you can't do that by yourself.
Look around and you might be able to find a decent tent on clearance or sale. I'm looking for one for my mom for the next trip. Or else she gets to use Kari's kiddie tent, which isn't a bad size 6x6 but it's not very tall either.

Walmart.com has a bunch of tents and even some sets with sleeping bags. You could probably ship it to yourself at FW and leave it there for less than Disney would charge you!

Gillian: that was what I was thinking of doing to surprise Kari, but I found that tent on clearance and just had to get it.

for anyone else looking our Target had a LOT of camping stuff on clearance...we picked up a screened canopy for $28 originally $100.

OTL- Gillian, did you ever get your pop up?
Was it you getting the pop up? I might be wrong. Senior moment, I guess. :flower: :flower: :flower: :flower: :flower:

That was me! We got it, but still have nothing to tow it with, and no good place to keep it. :) It's in our driveway right now, getting berries dropped on it, which will soon be replaced by leaves.

thought that was you. Congrat's
Good Luck camping next year.
p.s. don't forget to winterize. We're on our 3rd faucet, freezes every year despite winterizing. At 80$ each , my hubby just took it OUT this year.
ha. Bet it won't freeze that way.

Sorry to steal your thread, OP!

It's still winterized from last year, think that's okay? No one took it out this summer, although it was opened up once or twice for a bit. The front of our house gets a lot of sun. Hopefully we'll have a mild winter here in NJ. We're really looking forward to using it! We also need to get out to New Mexico soon, and may try to take it out there. Have to, uh, "un-winterize" first though!

After camping from 1976 to 1999, first with a travel trailer and then mostly with a motorhome, we stepped up to renting a house for our family group that varies from 8 to 14 persons. The motorhome has been sitting in my driveway for the past 6 years while we enjoy the numerous conveniences of the rental houses and the reduced cost. The adults in the family share the cost and the usual cost is about $30 per night per adult. Here is a great house to stay in at www.The-Diamond-on-the-Island.com or go here www.a1vacations.com for your pick of houses around the world.
