For all of us who can't get to go to Orlando as often as we hope, I recommand planning a weekend trip to Niagara Falls instead. There are many Disney style attractions in Niagara Falls that might provide you a quick fix of your Disney urge without crossing the border.

Disney Style Themed Resort + Themed Water Park:
Great Wolf Lodge http://www.greatwolf.ca
Opening April 14, 2006.
(Think of it as Wilderness Lodge fused with Country Bear)

Main Street USA Style shopping and Scenery:
Old Town Niagara-on-the-lake
http://www.niagaraonthelake.com/
(All the pretty flowers, bakeries, cafes and little shops)

Disney Style Dark Ride: Ghost Blasters inside The Great Canadian Midway
http://www.cliftonhill.com/niagara_falls_attractions/ghost_blasters/(Haunted Mansion fused with Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin)

Disney Style Musical/ Stage Show: Disney's Aladdin at The Greg Frewin Theatre, May16th to September 5th 2006.

(MGM Studio Style Show)

Resturants you can find in Disneyworld and Niagara Falls:

Can you think of anything else to add to this list?

Great Wolf Lodge also has Disney style prices. I believe it's about $300/night. Ouch.

But consider it includes the admissions to the water park. Let's say a family of 6, Tickets for Blizzard Beach/ or Typhoon Lagoon alone will cost us$186.
stay in one of those kid camp or wolf dan room at great wolf for cnd$309 ($100 off grand open discount). you actually paying about $120 for the room. I don't think it's that a bad deal.

I was in The Great Wolf Lodge a couple weeks a go. The water park is amazing!! The kids will love it. The rooms were all right. Some of the rooms have a kids part with bunk beds that is themed. Very cool. I don't think DW or I will ever stay there, no kids, but a family of four would have a great time and get some bang for their buck.

Thanks for the info, we are planning a trip this July. DS 6 can not wait to go to the WWE store..DD is less thrilled so these are some options for her. Thanks Kathy

Thanks so much for this. DH just informed me over the weekend he did not want to go to Florida this year. :sad2:  :furious:
So after I got over my initial reaction I went surfing and found your thread. :surfweb:
And now we are planning a trip to Niagara. :woohoo:
It's not Disney but I'll take it for this year. ;)
Anyone have any suggestions on hotels? The Embassy, Hilton and Marriott are in the running right now.
Also, what are the last 2 weeks in September usually like for weather?

Any suggestions are welcomed. :goodvibes

We stayed at the Embassy Suites Fallsview for really cheap, thanks to Scratch42(Janet). She posted a deal here. You should sign up for any newsletter each hotel has and sometimes they will email you deals. The hotel was awesome, we stayed on the 42nd floor. There was plenty of space for all 6 of us! I think September would be a nice time to go!

That's great Marilynn. Thank you. I am busy planning for September. Anyone have any favorite attractions I should check out?

I don't know if you would be interested in staying here or not www.sherkston.com
We stay here once a year for a week and really like it. In September they offer some really reasonable off season rates. We rent either a standard or a deluxe mobile home. The travel trailers and economys are not that great. It is about 25-30 minutes from Niagara Falls though.

Sherkston offers a 2.5 mile beach on Lake Erie, 27 acre inland lake with a beach, pools, hot tubs and a lot of activities (mainly on weekends though during off-season).

If its a couple with no kids, I would also highly suggest the Fallsview Casino Resort, the rooms are amazing and there is such a beautiful view of the falls. They have packages that include meals ect. We got a $800 a night room for $200 with meals in July.

Would do that again in a heart beat.

Thanks for the idea, I'll take a look at it. Sounds reasonable enough, and that's important. We are hoping for a 2 week vacation.

What a great Deal!!! :thumbsup2 How did you manage that?!
I took a quick look at the resort.. and tried my dates. sold out for a few of my dates. Well the room I wanted was sold out.
I'll keep trying. Planning is still half the fun!! ;)

Thanks for starting this thread. I've been toying with camping at NF for a long weekend this summer, and this info really helps. Anybody got good restaurants? Just because I'm camping, doesn't mean I'm cooking. :rotfl2:

For those of you not attending Disney for a while why don't you consider an all inclusive vacation to Mexico, Cuba, etc. You can find some very cheap deals if you look in the right places. Many resorts have great theming, great food, and fun activities that come at a fraction of the price of a Disney vacation. Two week stays in these places are even better deals as they are only about 200-300 dollars more than a one week stay.

Niagara Falls is nice and all I guess, but I live here so it really doesn't do much for me.

Understandable, I suppose. But I was hoping you could answer a question. Is Marvel Adventure City still open? :charac4: I can't find an actual website for it.

Last time I was there it was, but that was quite a few months ago now.

905 374-4444, you may want to try calling this number. This is supposed to be the Marvel Adventure City phone number.

For a Cirque du Soleil - type experience, opening this summer in Niagara Falls is "Avaia" by Cirque Niagara. I believe it opens May 20 and runs until early October.

For an 'Ohana' - type dining experience, try the Copacabana restaurant located near the Fallsview Casino. For about $35 CDN per person, it is an all you care to eat Brazilian style restaurant, where the wait staff bring skewers of many different types of meats to your table. Also included is a salad bar with many different side dishes. I have heard there is live entertainment on weekends. Call ahead (just like Disney!) for reservations. My friends recently tried to get in for a Saturday night - they were told they were booked solid for the next three Saturdays!

If you live in Niagara Falls, St. Catharines, Niagara on the Lake, Virgil, Wellend, Fort Erie, Grimsby, Vineland, Pelham & Wainfleet there is a special on between now and June 22 (Holiday weekends excluded) - enter code NLAP - will get you a room that holds up to 6 with waterpark passes for 4 people from 1:00 pm from the day of checkin till 10:00 pm day of check out for as low as 165.00. - extra 20.00 per person extra to cover the waterpark passes

That's a very good comparison.

Does anyone know of any review for DIsney's Aladdin Jr show ?

Thx
Terence
