Disney Studios QS meals

Nope :rotfl:.

We eat at Backlot Express though, when we're there. It's alright, nothing spectacular but I'm sure there's worse out there.

There is a new CS just opened, we ate there in Jan, called Faifax. It's near TOT and RnRc. I had the smoked Brisket and Chicken. Thought it was good.

We usually just grab turkey legs. We tried Toy Story Pizza Planet once, but was not impressed. It's nice to know there's a new CS. We might try that one next month.

OH that sounds like a good option..

I have never had a good CS at DHS.. I would go for like Scifi dinner or 50's prime time and get a good experience and food.. JMO

Nope, nothing particularly good at DHS. Backlot Express surfices, but it is just okay. We usually do our only TS lunch here at the 50's PTC.
However, I have seen some recent photos of good looking sandwiches from Starring Roles Cafe. It looks worth a shot

DHS has long had horrible CS. However, it seems like they are trying to change that.

Beyond the aforementioned Fairfax Fare expansion (used to be just fries), Min and Bill's Dockside Diner expanded their menu last year to include a frankfurter and an italian sausage. Studio Catering Company also had their menu redone. Starring Rolls sandwiches are great, but the hours are limited.

I never liked any of the CS options at DHS, but I would definitely try one of the revamped ones.

I feel the same way. Planning to give Fairfax a try and maybe something else as well if the menu appeals.

Backlot Express is one of the better ones IMO. DD liked Pizza Planet - I thought it was awful. I suspect it is because they were able to make gluten free pizza for her though and it did look pretty good, but the normal menu items were just blah and kind of "thrown" onto the plate.

Starring Rolls is a popular option too, but you need to get there fairly early and it is only a great choice of CS if you either don't have kids or if they love PB&J as that is all that's on the menu for them (no dessert for the kids either).

We usually eat at Pizza Planet or Backlot Express. Nothing amazing in DS, but those do the trick!

We're going to try Starring Rolls next trip, the pics of the butterfinger cupcake for dessert look amazingly good. We've had pizza a couple of times at Catalina Eddie's, it was ok, not great but not awful either.

We ate at Fairfax Fare in January and it was super tasty! Ribs and brisket combo at a CS! SWEEET!

I love Starring Rolls, their sandwiches are huge and the desserts are fabulous! However, their sandwiches are pre-made so if you don't like mayo or mustard on yours, you don't have much options. A counter service meal includes sandwich, a bag of chips, a dessert and a drink.

I agree with all the PPs that there aren't any great options at DHS. We usually end up at Rosie's All-American (burgers, chicken fingers, etc) & Catalina Eddie's (pizza & hot Italian sandwich which we really like - same sandwich is served at Pizzafari at AK, fyi). They are side-by-side walk up windows with shared outdoor seating. We can split up, get what everybody wants, then sit together.

Even though others on here don't seem to like it I would recommend the ABC Commissary, because I found nothing wrong with their food.

We liked starring rolls - nice ham sandwich, chips and a choice of bakery cake. Good deal for 1 CS.

We also did backlot express - burger was same as peco bills (no toppings bar), my chicken fingers were the same as cosmic rays. Food was fine and free help yourself drink refils (we had coke) were a big plus.

Pizza planet pizza was ok, i've had worse. Again a good deal for 1 CS - pizza, salad & dressing and a mickey rice crispy treat.

If paying oop then Sci fi was not much dearer than CS. We paid oop for it rather than uses a TS. Enjoyed the burgers, DH had a cherry coke, me a milkshake, DD a light up tinkerbell drink.

All the meals we were able to just get 2 CS and share with DD nearly 4, so plenty of food.

I didn't find DHS any worse for CS than the other parks.

Backlot Express is OK, nothing spectacular. We really enjoyed Fairfax Faire!! I had the brisket and ribs, they were delicious!!

Thanks for all the reviews. It looked like slim pickens at DHS but maybe we will try the Fairfax or a couple of the others. We are going near noon when our flight arrives & we get checked in & we didn't want to leave after we got there.

I have to say that out of all the parks DHS has very limited choices. We try not to eat there, but if we have to we usually will go to ABC Comissary and get the Fish and chips. It's not great, but we really can't seem to fnd much at any of the other CS.
I wish that they would have better choices, but at least they have made an effort by expanding Fairfax.
