I spoke with a family member who worked at a local Disney Store. She quit last week when they were informed DS is being taken over by The Childrens Place. She said she has been part-time for 7 years and was making $7.39/hr. They were also taking away all the "goodies" that they have been so used to getting. They are DVC members and have bought since she has worked there. I guess they got a 10-15% discount on their point purchases. That will all be going bye-bye. She did not tell me when all this will be taking effect. She did say they will still be selling Disney merchandise. Ever since TDS changed (4-5years ago) and put all that Princess stuff and very little adult stuff I think it has gone downhill. The stores are probably 90% kids stuff now.

What will change and what will remain the same at this time is all speculation.

Almost any change would be an improvement. When they narrowed their line down to Pooh and Princesses, we stopped shopping there.

I would venture to guess that most of the CM perks will probably be cut. I mean, the stores will no longer be owned by Disney, they would be owned by Children's Place. Maybe you'd get a discount at Children's Place stores, but I can't see them offering discounts to anything Disney.

This will also probably mean the final axe coming down on the DVC discount at TDS. At least with the demise of The Disney Club, I knew I could still get my 10% on some stuff by showing the DVC card. Oh well...maybe the rumors of a World of Disney coming to Chicago will turn out to be true, after all we are the birthplace of Walt Disney.

::yes:: ::yes:: ::yes::

And our Disney Store had recently improved too. No longer is it all princess junk. They really got some good stuff back in there. Who knows what will happen now?:confused:

I wish they would rethink what they stock in their store too. It seems like every single time I go in there, everything is the same. It makes me sad. :( Oh well, their loss. They're just saving me money.

If you read the Reuters article, it says at this time that Children's Place is in "talks" with Disney, not that the deal is "done" or has actually taken place. I will wait an official announcement.
