Sorry about the placement of this post, didn't know where else to start it.

Both of the Disney Stores in my area closed at about the same time. Is this a trend?

The Disney Stores by me are still open do not look like they will be closing anytime soon.

Our's is still here - but we hardly ever buy anything any more - not much for older kids or adults - seemed to be focused on only young children items.

You may want to go to the Rumours and News board for more information about Disney Stores. I've seen a few posts there about the closures.

We were sad to see it go I think the one in Indianapolis is still open though so all is not lost for our area.Hoping the market will improve and we get our Disney Store back someday.::yes:: :wave2:

Disney has started a campaign of closing Disney Stores in smaller markets as their leases expire. We lost ours a month or so ago the day after its lease expired at the mall. It looks like unless yours is located in a major metro area, it may be on the endangered species list.

Ours closed a little over a year ago. The staff was a little upset. They said it was because the lease was so expensive. They did keep the one in another mall nearby-why is beyond me since the one closer to me was more popular. I used to love going in there, but didnt buy all the time. The stuff is a bit expensive, but its nice to be able to check it out before buying.

We lost ours here last summer. It was so disappointing. I made quite a trek to the closest Disney Store yesterday to get Disney dollars for the boys' Easter baskets. I really miss it! I hate having to pay shipping costs when ordering from the catalog.

Ours closed on the 21 of march. The only other one that we could go to is over 1 1/2 hrs away.

I always thought that the Disney stores would do better business if they sold some theme park merchandise.

shafke -
I always thought the same thing. Most of the merchandise is kids clothes, toys, & videos. The Disney Store in the mall that I usually shop at closed about a year ago. Now when I want Disney things I have to go to another mall - which is actually closer to my house, but I really never cared for it as much as the older mall.

The stores that are not performing well are targeted to be closed after the lease expires for that particular Mall or plaza. The ones that are turning a good profit are going to stay open. However, in the future, Disney may get out of the business completely and close all the stores.
ADP :D

The one at my mall is always busy. It's hard just to get in.Even though i rarely buy anything I just like to look.

I had not been to the Mall in about a month and did not even know the store was closing. It was just gone. Don't even know if they had any good closing sales. I would buy t-shirts for my grandkids when they were $8. They haven't had good adult clothes for a long time. But it was always fun to go into. I am lucky that we have an outlet store about 1 1/2 hours away.

Our store in Meridian Mall is closing. The Manager confirmed it today.
:(

I felt bad for her. She said she's out of a job.:(

My sister was in our Disney store the day before it closed and said she wouldn't have known it was closing except that there was a notice sitting on the counter. There were no sales of any kind, regular or closing.

The one at the Florida Mall is still open and going strong!:sunny:

Here in San Diego, two stores just closed and now there is only a small one left in town which is not easily accessible. There are many disappointed people here.
I like to buy Disney Dollars in small amounts monthly and give them to the kids. I am not realyl able to do that anymore...

We live on the PA/Ohio border..so our closest was in Niles, Ohio. I was soooo sad when I was shopping one day and saw that the store was gone! Nothing had been said, I didn't see any signs before that day at all :(

I'm very sad to see them closing. Sometimes when I needed my "disney fix", walking into that store took me back to the World just a little. *sigh*

The store here in NYC has just about everyhting on sale. It really makes me wonder what's going on. Eisner has always said that they would never close the 5th Avenue store but it just seems odd that they have so much on sale.
