Disney Store Upset!

I am soooo upset right now I can't see straight! Two weeks ago I ordered the Dooney and Bourke 40th Anniversary wristlet for my DS's DGF and it was all set with gift wrap and everything to be delivered last night. When she opened it(he was leaving for home today so wanted to see her reaction0 it was one of those Christmas trees in the tube! WTH! He knew what we had bought for her so he called to tell us and we were fuming!
I called the Disney Store website number and explained what had happened, only to be told they are SOLD OUT of the wristlet! What had started as finding the perfect gift has really turned sour! They are giving me full credit on my Visa but still....so disappointing!
It was their fault and when they took my order it was still available so what the heck happened here?

What happened? An accident while packing it. Someone else got the wristlet when they were expecting something else. Either it was just the two packages getting swapped, OR it went on down the line. She got the tree instead of the wristlet, someone else got the wristlet instead of an ornament, someone else got an ornament instead of a Mickey plush, etc. At some point it would have been caught, but those packages already got out.

It's a type of error that can happen on ANY packaging line. Usually it's easily remedied, but in this case the item is sold out. In which case, all they can do is refund you. It's a huge bummer, but it happens, and they can't really do anything more than refund you.

so they just shipped it and she opened it right away ?

I would be mad too. Do you know anyone going to Disney ? Maybe they could pick one up and he could make it up to her after break.

Same thing happened to me with Disneystore.com. I ordered the princess tea set and when it was delivered I got a Captain America doll!!!!! Of course tea set was sold out so they told me to keep the Captain America doll and gave me a credit for the cost of the tea set on a non-expiring gift card. Big deal...my daughter really wanted the tea set and was very upset that I could not get it for her birthday. Oh well..mistakes happen. BUt Disneystore.com is they more annoying place to shop! I spend so much time shopping and then when I go to check out half the stuff in my cart is no longer available!!! HATE IT!

I just thought it happened to me.I always make a large order and always receive mismatched sizes, wrong products etc. It has gotten to the point that I no longer order from them.

All stores have shipping issues. I placed a big order at Kohl's.com right after Thanksgiving. Everything was in stock and ready to ship. Fast forward to now - I still haven't received all of the items from the shipment. I finally called Kohls to see what the hold up is (almost a month since ordering) - to be told that the items I am missing are sold out. Yes, a month later they figured out they are sold out. I am getting a credit, but not what I needed to finish out a Christmas gift.

I had something similar happen, but in reverse. I was helping DMIL order a compressor for DBIL (her son) from Sears.com. I placed the order and opted to pick it up at a local store. I got an email saying that the local store did not have the compressor in stock and gave me 2 options:

1. I could choose to have it shipped to my house for free.

2. I could pick up from another store.

They had a link for both options. Well neither link was working so I called them. I told them the links in the email weren't working; if they could just deliver it that would be great, but now they wanted to charge me $39 shipping costs. I told the lady that the email stated I could have it shipped for free. She tried arguing back that I needed a certain discount code in order to get it shipped free. After arguing back and forth a while and speaking with her supervisor, turns out the store I wanted to pick it up from had the compressor in stock all this time. After I just told them to just cancel the order and I'll go and purchase it from the store directly. When we got there, we got a bigger one for a much better deal.

In the OP's case, could be just like my situation. They don't have an accurate inventory and sell way more than what they're showing on their system. Their system shows they have X amount and have way less.

Well..stuff does happen. I've never had any problems with Disney Store sending the wrong product and only once did I order something andf then later got a note that the item was sold out..thAt's just how it goes. I did one time from Amazon order something thAt was rather large..I forget what it was now, and then got a CD instead, so just sent it back and eventually got what I had ordered. I know it's disappointing, but really..in the scheme of many many things, not that big of a deal..Much better to make a joke out of it.

well,I think the way most ordering works is you order something from one stores website, and the order gets processed at a HUGE order fulfillment center- the only thing they have to go on is bar codes, order #'s etc. I mean HUGE= many stores...:scared1: There's not some people wearing disney hats sorting orders by hand...so mistakes happen. I think disney did what they could, and refunded you. Why not let the girl know about the mixup, and get the item for her when it's back in stock? then it's like she gets a new surprise sometime soon ,and it'l be fun!

I agree with you on Disneystore.com frustration. It has happened several times to my family. First time I ordered a stuffed animal only to get an oven mit - fine I'll understand the first time plus I got to keep the mit and got a refund for the plush.

My mother in law ordered a fleece vest earlier this year and they sent her a different t-shirt. She called and they were going to send a replacement - they sent the same t-shirt. Finally they just refunded her because they couldn't get it right (all the while the vest was still listed on the site to purchase.)

My supervisor at work ordered Disney Monopoly a couple weeks ago and got toddler Buzz Lightyear pajamas (wouldn't the shear weight of the item tip you off???).

Now wonder their inventory is never correct - they are sending items every which way.

I feel for you on the wristlet - that has been listed to purchase for the past few weeks (I was thinking about it for myself) but now all of a sudden when they make a mistake it's sold out???

I have had this happen, but it is rare. Each time, the sticker slapped on the plastic wrapping the item was labeled the item I wanted. But that was not the item inside the wrap. Once it was shoes vs. sheets from TDS.com for example. Sticker said sheets and had sheet sku, but it was minnie shoes. It is a shock to get some weird item in an order.

To be honest, I think Disney DOES have it's own distribution center, and it is staffed by cast members. :rolleyes1 But the actual (labeling) error could have been made overseas, or in another U.S. location, before it even arrived at the distribution center, unfortunately.

For this particular item, did you try to call the parks for it? I would try both WDW AND DL to see if they have it, to ship to you. I want the DL anniversary wristlet, it has been sold out of the TDS.com website for a long time. (have not got around to trying to call DL for it yet though).

Same thing happened to my niece from Kohl's.

At least they made you a decent offer with their apology for the mistake.

I ordered a set of Chicago Blackhawks floor mats for DD 12/3. Two days later I was notified that my order would ship no later than 12/13.

Today, 18 days after the original order was placed, and 7 days AFTER the latest ship date, I get an email saying the item won't ship until sometime after Christmas.

And their generous offer is I can request a refund.

I'm SO aggravated. I figure they should have known it was out of stock when I ordered it. For sure, sometime between the time I ordered and the ship dates.
They made sure I don't have time to receive an order from anybody else at this point.

Grrrr. Makes "real" stores seem like a good option.

Thanks for all the responses. I am hoping that they restock this item so that I can purchase it...again. The recipient was very understanding, of course, and I offered to buy a different one. The main reason I wanted the 40th one was that they met during the College Program at WDW and I wanted her to have another momento of that time! I might try calling the Parks but I have to find the number... Happy Holidays to all!

There are different numbers to call for DL and WDW.

The DL number is 800-362-4533

Like the last poster said, WDW is 877-560-6477

While I would assume WDW would be more likely to carry that item, DL might have sold it too.

It probably had the wrong label on it - that has happened to me many times in the past with Disneystore.

If you have a Disney Visa and you order from DL (if they have it) they will give you 10% off.

I never had this problem with Disney Store....but you guys scared me so I opened the package I got today with the kids PJs in them--luckily they all were the right size...

From what I see online it looks like they have a ton of Dooney & Bourke wristlets in stock? So IDK maybe they need to update their website....

Disney Store site has screwed up 3 of the last 5 orders I placed with them - received the wrong item on all 3. Plus one other time the item came broken (that one was a gift sent directly to recipient). Not a great track record

Now I just order from them if I am ok with not getting exactly what I ordered :surfweb:

Sounds like this happens A LOT. My mil and fil order from them all the time and I know one time they ordered a statue and they sent them a different statue. I looked it up and the one they sent cost more than the one they ordered and paid for.
Disney is not hurting for money I guess.
