Disney store shirts for trip

How do you find they fit? Do they run fairly true to size, or do they run small?
Also, how many of you do matching t-shirts for your family? Just the kids?

We don't do the matching shirts, except for my daughters. They're 8 and 4 and they like to dress like twins, whether it's in Disney clothes or not. I personally find the women's sizes sometimes run a little small/tight and the men's sizes run pretty true to size. Kids sizes are pretty true to size, although I usually go one size up for my youngest son because I find the smaller boys sizes run really short and wide.

I agree with SillySally on the fit.

My family never did matching shirts til our recent extended family trip. On that one I used personalized designs from the Creative DISigns board here and we had coordinating shirts several days of our trip. I liked doing this because the coordinating shirts were fun and also I was able to order solid shirts in any size and color to accommodate the wide range of sizes from age 2-67, petite to plus, boxy men's Ts to feminine cut.

On MK day we all picked a different dwarf or Snow White or a logo from the new ride and they were all on tan, gray, or white shirts. On Epcot day, we had a logo from each country and ironed them onto red or blue shirts. And AK day we did a picture of the fab 5 over an animal print Mickey ears on green/olive shirts. Despite grumbling over my idea ahead of time, everyone did wear the shirts and enjoyed the compliments, the pictures look really nice and it wasn't identical matching, so even the naysayers said it wasn't too bad . (Side bonus, we thought it was nice to be able to tell the kids "if we ever get separated, find a CM, tell them your adults are wearing shirts that look like yours")

I find the fit to be all over the board depending on the shirt. The cut is different on different ones. I can order a large in one and it's huge while the XL in another is too small.

If you order, just do it early so you can return for exchange if needed.

I agree with the post on the fit. I've had the same problem over the years.

Our last trip in July was the first time we did matching shirts. We made our own. We did various Disney characters for our first day in MK, then did variation of American flag on Mickey head for the 4 4th

On the limited edition ones, the women's run a little small. I will get a medium usually, and they are a little fitted if you have a bit of a chest, C and up. The men's or adult shirts as a woman tend to be tight in the hips. I sometimes get a small in these but feel that I have to stretch it a bit. I usually wear an 8. If I get the medium, then they are baggy in the chest but good in the hips.

The men's and kids seem to be fine.

The women's shirts run small but all the others are pretty true to size. My daughter and I always go one size up. The guys have always just gotten their regular size.

We have purchased men, women's and children's shirts. Overall they run true to size but I've noticed on a couple of my husbands shirts they have shrunk in length so I have started to hang to dry.

There's far more options than DisneyStore.com (outside of the attraction/resort specific) and you can customize shirt styles and colors.

For me personally... the real draw is the ability to then use a coupon code and save even more.

An Adult L, Baymax tee shirt, is $17 and change thanks to a 15% off coupon today. I've seen coupons for as low as 40%... and there always seems to be at least some type of discount floating around!

The quality always exceeds expectations... even after dozens of washings!

If you are interested in shirts other that from Disney Store, Etsy.com have a ton of shirts that can be customized and I was able to find some very affordable Disney shirts for myself and daughters at Old Navy

The grey Mickey shirt in women's plus fits amazingly in the 2XL. I was pleasantly surprised. I did get everyone in the family the matching grey shirts, though we didn't all wear them at the same time; they are pretty shrink resistant and are still going strong after many washes, which was another pleasant surprise.

Thanks everyone. The kid's sizing I'm pretty confident on, but it's for me/DH that I'm not sure on. I'm one of those "odd" sizes, I typically wear either a 32D or 34C depending on the bra, so, I find t-shirt sizing can be a bit all over the place. Sometimes I can wear XS othertimes I need M, depending on the shirt. I also prefer y t-shirts to be longer. DH is generally a L for chest/waist, but he has a long body, so sometimes the L is too short.

I have had it run to both ends of the spectrum. Some shirts run up to 1 or 2 sizes large and some (honestly most) run about a size small (and I ordered a size up). Honestly Disney is the worst place to find shirts that fit. And they are not consistent.

In fact my online purchases arrived yesterday and of three shirts two ran at least a size small and one is probably half a size small (that one was mine and I'm keeping it since I need it for a specific event). Luckily I just found out that the outlet in my town will take back the shirts (not customized or limited edition or park merchandise). Sending back to the online store is crap because you get charged shipping to send them back and Disney shipping runs high.

from judging how many DISers seek DISigns on the Creative DISigns forum, I would say that many MANY people do matching shirts for the whole family. And they are DIY projects so shirts are guaranteed to fit!

For those who get designs from the forums here, where do you buy your t-shirts?

I had great selecton, price and service fromJiffyshirts.com. I like to look through our closets, see what t-shirts we've gotten from other places/events and then order that size and type of shirt from Jiffyshirts. Gildan seems to be a common t-shirt for school events & sports teams with a traditional boxy shape. Hanes has some that I like for being softer and offering a women's cut. Both are offered at Jiffy in lots of colors and sizes. You might also find solid shirts you like at Old Navy, WalMart, Target, etc.

As a C or D cup, I think there are many of the "women's" Disney Store shirts that will likely not fit you in a small or even medium. My then 5 year old daughter had a small women's Disney store shirt and also an XS woman's T-shirt from the parks that fit her fine across the chest and in the shoulders, but were just more of dress length, if that tells you anything. She is 9 now, and neither of those shirts still fit her. She is a big boned taller kid, but is not overweight. As others have said- the men's sizes run very true to size, many of the women's sizes run very small in the chest area (I would say they are a junior's cut, not a women's cut). I have a real problem with some of their women's shirts because to get them to fit across the chest can mean they are huge everywhere else. It really depends on the style of the shirt though because occasionally, I will run across one that is true to size. The kids are close to size, but occasionally run a little small. DD has always been tall for her age, and they can seem short on her.

We didn't do matching shirts but we did pick one day of our trip to all wear our Disney t-shirts and they were all in the color grey family so we kind if matched - but not exactly. It made for a great photo!

My boys wore matching Santa Mickey shirts for MVMCP. I got these online from Kohls for $5 each! These were men's sizing but they ran very small. We found the other shirts from the Disney Store online to run a little small/short so I sized up once for each of us - perfect!
