So while at the Disney Store I was digging through the sale rack and found a "starter pin set" that contains two Mickey pins and a lanyard. Before I bought I asked the saleslady if they were tradeable at the Disney parks. She said yes.

Upon getting home I opened and they don't look right. The back says "Disney Store". I bought them for my kids to trade so I don't care that they are not beautiful. I just don't want to get to the parks and have disappointed kiddos.

Any experience with this?

Thanks!

Yes, they are tradeable

The main criteria to judge whether a pin is tradable or not is that it must be a metal pin that represents a Disney Event, Location, Character or Icon. Some pins from our Operating Participants are also tradable, but must represent the Operating Participant in a way that has a specific Disneyland Resort or Walt Disney World Resort affiliation.

I bought 80 packs!! With tax each pin works out to just $1.58 and the lanyards are great!!
They ARE Trade worthy! :cool1: :thumbsup2 :cool1: :thumbsup2

Yeah they are tradable. As a matter of fact, I just got back from trading about 20 or so myself. But just know that some CMs still aren't aware the DS pins are tradable pins & may hesitate or refuse. if that's the case, just move on to the next CM.

Not if it's a pin I want! I will 'educate them' on the fact that "Disney Store' pins are Tradeable!! :goodvibes

Here are are my pins.........I think I'm done! I have been collecting sale pins from the Disney Store, for our trip we have 200+ pins, with two G-kids and three adults trading we can go through plenty of pins! We ended up shipping some to our resort from a E-bay seller in Miami, last vacation.

Sorry, you ended up with a broken one :( I'd take it back and see if you can get more :)......if you end up buying pins in the parks it can get really expensive!

wow what a great haul! We are going in less than 2 weeks and I can't wait to have my little one trade! :) But we will only have 30 pins. 200 is extraordinary!

Thanks so much for the info. I also found these at my Disney store - bought 10 packs for my upcoming trip. I was worried they weren't tradable because the back looks different.

We just came back from WDW. We took about 500 pins with us to trade. If you are putting the pins in your carry-on I suggest pulling them out of your luggage and placing them in a bin to go through security at your home airport. We got pulled aside by TSA, they took the pins out of our luggage and ran us back through. They told us to take the pins out next time. The screeners at MCO are used to the pins so they don't care.

The Disney Store pins are very common on cast member lanyards right now, so just remember that they are not allowed to accept a duplicate of a pin they already have.

I also saw one CM turn down the light-up Malificent pin from another guest but I couldn't hear his reason for refusing to take it. She just gave him a different pin and moved on.

The Malificent pins light up......maybe that was the reason. I got them for The Ho Ho Ho Lotta lights meet in Dec to wear, and pass out :)
Thanks for the heads up!

So you purchased eighty sets, huh?? Perhaps that's the reason that others couldn't take advantage of the sale. I think the DS should put a limit on sales so everyone has a chance to enjoy the savings. JMHO....

Yes, I took advantage since my SON IS DEPLOYED IN THE DESERT!!!!! and can't get to the store himself right now!!! Read my post it's for three adults and TWO grand children. MY DD went to one store for her brother, and I went to another.

It's not a big deal if they bought what they saw.

BTW, I was in the Disney Stores in Rehoboth Beach, DE and Potomac Mills, VA and they had the starter sets for $.99.

I bought 50 sets. Some are for our family and some are going to be donated to a local charity.

I make no apologies for it either. You snooze you lose.
