Disney Store pins - ok to trade??

I am pretty new at pin trading (DD11 started on our last trip June 06) and we have scheduled our next trip for March... we were at the Disney store yesterday and we bought pins on clearance for $2.25!!! Are these good for trading??? I asked the asst manager there and she had NO clue. When I said "pin trading" she got this puzzled look on her face .. - then I asked the gal that checked me out and she said yes they were fine for trading. Just wanted to ask the experts here!!!
