I was thinking of getting a part time job working at the Disney Store near us, and well, I have tattoos on my arms. Nothing offensive, flowers, stars, butterflies, but they're *there,* and it's Disney we're talking about.
It's been a while since I've worked retail, and I know our society has loosened up a bit, but I was wondering if it was going to be a big problem. I don't even want to apply if I'm going to be rejected because of it, I'm just reallysensitive about it :)

Thanks a bunch!

(Please move if need be, I just figured this may be a Budget Board question because I want to get a PT job for money )

When I worked for The Disney Store many years ago and I have lots of friends who work in the parks - Disney requires Tattoos to be covered and not seen. So it would depend on the current costume requirements.

I had a friend who worked at a Disney store many years ago and their "costume" was a white short sleeve button up shirt with a sweater cardigan over it, khaki shorts and pantyhose. So, if the uniform is the same, the cardigan would be covering the tattoos. When you go in to fill out the application, I would just wear a nice shirt with long sleeves and ditto for if you get called back for an interview. She really enjoyed working there so I wish you the best of luck!

Just ask, they will tell you at the store what the guidelines are.

When I worked at The Disney Store, we had one Cast Member who had a tattoo on her upper arm. She just covered it up with a large square bandaid when she was working.

I would think if you can cover them then it doesn't make a difference what is under your sleeve! This time of year you will be wearing long sleeves anyway.

. . . I had a friend who worked at a Disney store many years ago and their "costume" was a white short sleeve button up shirt with a sweater cardigan over it, khaki shorts and pantyhose. . .

1) Let's hope the friend was a female.
2) I do not look good in pantyhose.
3) Besides, they ride-up.

The costumes have changed. I was an ASM when the costumes were the "cheerleader" ones... now they are red button up shirts and black pants. I can't remember if the shirts are long or short sleeves....

Back when I was a CM, tattoos had to be hidden, so if you can hide yours under the costume, there shouldn't be a problem.... :) Good luck!

We have both options, the long sleeve and the short sleeves red shirts!

OP, go and apply! Good luck! :)

Previous poster is correct...tatoos must be covered when onstage. But go ahead and apply. Everyone is hiring seasonal right now. Just let them know that you understand that they have to be covered.

The costumes were the "Cheer Leader type" when I worked in the Boston Faneuil Hall Marketplace store. It was part time evenings and weekends, but lots of fun and a great team spirit!

So go ahead and apply . . . just cover up as they have mentioned before.
