Disney Store Gift Card

Hi everyone - not sure if this is the right forum to ask this question in, but I'll give it a try....

A friend of ours from out of state has sent my son a $100 Disney Store gift card for his birthday. (yes, I am very grateful)

However....I would much rather to have the $100 in Disney Dollars to spend when we are in WDW next weekend. Any thought on how to change this over? I called their guest services number and they said they only way to change it would be to go back to the giver and have him call in with his credit card info and the gift card info and then he could credit his card and then go back to the store for the Disney Dollars - but I don't really want to go back to him directly.

Do you know if you can buy park passes at the Disney store with a gift card? That might be one way we can use it.

I also thought about going as far as asking people in line at the Disney store if they were paying in cash and if they were to give me the cash and I'll pay with my gift card. A bit tacky, but it would get the job done.

Any other thoughts?

I thought you could use a Disney Store Gift Card to buy Disney Dollars at the Disney Store? -Steph

Well...I just learned yesterday that the Disney Stores were sold to the Children's Place and are being changed over as we speak, so things are really in a state of flux.

I have heard that they WILL be selling park passes and if so, then you can use the gift card for that.

There have been varying reports on whether or not the new TDS will be selling Disney Dollars. And there have always been varying reports on whether you can use Gift Cards to get Disney Dollars. So my best advise to you regarding this is to ask at your TDS.

But it seems as if purchasing a park pass would be your best (and easiest) bet.

We used our disney store cards to buy disney dollars. First we went to upromise and bought up $1000 in disney gift cards. We got 5% back out of that into our upromise account. Then we used the gift cards to buy disney dollars.

Hi everyone - thanks for your advice. I just got back from my local Disney Store and they did let me buy Disney Dollars with my gift card. Keep in mind, this is the same store that I asked this same question of last week and they told me that I couldn't.

This time a manager was there and I asked her directly. She even told me that some employees didn't know that about gift cards for Disney dollars and have been giving out the wrong information.
