Disney Store Exchange

So I ordered a Dooney and Bourke Magic Band for my wife from the online disney store. When it showed up in the mail today the mickey symbol in the middle of the "puck" had scuff marks on it. Now this magic band is inside of hard packaging so I don't know how this could have happened without the box being opened. If it wasn't a Dooney and Bourke Magic band I probably wouldn't care. Since it is a fancy Magic Band I would like it exchanged.

All the exchange instructions I have read say that I have to pay for the return shipping? I paid enough for the Magic Band, why do I need to pay for return shipping? Has anyone had any luck getting Disney to cover the cost of return shipping?

The plot thickens.....I just saw the return policy that Magic Bands are not returnable. What should I do?

So I did talk with them. After explaining to them what happened it sounded like they would have exchanged the band. Because the band is currently sold out they offered me a 15% credit. That's good enough for me because the scuffs are not that bad.

yeah returns to the disney store you end up paying return shipping. sucks we just had to go thru that with a pair of PJs that didn't fit.

An item that arrives damaged should not be treated the same as a regular return. I am happy that the OP got a resolution he is happy with but would like to know Disney's policy on exchanging or returning damaged merchandise. Can anyone advise?

I've only returned LE merchandise that has been damaged (the box itself for their $100+ LE dolls). They keep a bit of a supply back (even if marked sold out) to handle any exchanges, etc. However, as I'm usually the last one to get the item (because shipping from TN to CA takes FOREVER!), I don't get to exchange often.

Before, if I had an item arrive damaged and the item was not pricey (usually $20 or less), they would refund me the purchase price (OP, this is what they should have done) and send a new one. If they couldn't send a new one, they would refund me the purchase price although they would try to convince me to take merchandise credit (like $5-10 more than the original purchase price), rather than a return to my original form of payment, which is a credit card. I would decline and request the original price refunded to the original form of payment.

Thank you. That is more in line with what I would expect. :)

Thanks for the input. I know things get weird when it comes to Magic Bands, and I understand where they are coming from in not wanting to accept exchange/returns. The scuff marks are honestly not that bad. Since the policy is clearly stated that they do not accept exchanges/returns, and the product was sold out I was happy with what they gave me. Technically they didn't have to do anything.
