I just saw on mousesavers an offer on Disney stock which got me to thinking.

If you purchase Disney shares, are there any special perks or discounts offered for being a stockholder?

1. You get an annual report sent to your home, this year it included a 50th Anniversary Pin.
2. You get an invite to each Shareholder's Meeting, and if happens to be in "your neck of the woods" you would be able to attend.
3. You get some small satisfaction that for every penny you spend at Disney, you may just get a very small piece back as a dividend or a stock price increase.

There used to be perks to stockholders - free membership in the now gone Disney Club, room discounts. This was - oh - fifteen years ago. But people would buy one share in order to get the discount. Haven't been discounts for stockholders for years (probably if you owned enough stock, there would be perks involved - companies bend over backwards for major stockholders. But if you owned 300,000 shares of Disney you probably wouldn't need a room discount).

I have one share of stock that the kids bought me for mother's day several years ago (framed and all) I get approximately $0.21 a year in royalties! I get an annual report. I get invited to the shareholder's meetings. I get to vote on certain issues.

PIN? I didn't get a pin with my annual report this past year!! WAAAAA. Maybe you have to have more than one measly share to qualify for that!

we also have McDonald's Stock (why not, might as well) and McDonalds always enclose freebies in their annual reports. Year after year it's a treat!

Just one word of caution - the ad that I have seen on mousesavers from oneshare is extremely over priced. You can go to any stockbroker and buy one share of Disney stock and still get the nice certfiicate and frame it yourself for much less.
