Where would I go to buy stock directly from Disney? I do an online search and a bunch of brokers pop up. I would like to start buying it for my grand babies for holidays and birthday gifts.

So far as I am aware, you can’t buy direct from Disney. You have to go through a third party who is licensed to sell securities. If you are buying in small amounts, keep an eye on commission rates.

They used to issue really cute stock certificates (I have one for my first share, which was a gift to me), but my subsequent shares are just a book entry (can’t recall technical term). I recall seeing where you could get some sort of “commemorative” certificate, but it wasn’t an actual stock certificate.

I just checked the price and it's around $117 +/- per share. I bought when Disney was closed down during the pandemic, bought for very low price. I should have sold when it was around $170 +/- per share and bought again when prices were low again like now. I guess at this point I will just ride the storm since I'm still ahead of the game. Keeping my fingers crossed that Disney can weather the storm.

There was a time you would get a stock certificate which looked nice with disney characters on it. Not anymore, but we still have one. You need to open an account which is a good idea anyways. I bought my daughter $2500 in shares when she was young and it was worth $10,000 by the time she reached college

You can buy shares of stock through any broker or if you have an investment account of some type. Generally, you own shares in an account and you would have to see if they offer the option of receiving actual paper stock certificates. You can't buys shares of any stock directly from a company. If you are only buying one or a few shares as a novelty for gift giving, I would buy it whenever you want. Markets go up and down for a lot of reasons and many aren't even directly related to a specific company. Trying to 'time' the markets on a small share purchase is mostly a waste of time. Your gift may also be something they would keep for 10-20 years and likely it would increase in value over that timeframe regardless of the current price.

Very few companies still issue stock certificates. Also when one get a stock certificate, it can't be traded electronically. It would have to be redeemed. Some of the major brokerages will help transfer to electronic form for a fee. There was a movie (Blast from the Past) where the premise is that someone thought that nuclear war started and they holed up in a shelter for 35 years. They had old paper money, but the big plot point was that this guy's dad had paper stock certificates where the gain in share prices made them worth tens of millions of dollars.

There were some companies that specialized in ordering single shares for customers in order to obtain a certificate. There were some interesting ones out there, and The Walt Disney Company was among the most popular. Ironically, so was Playboy. I heard that their certificate used to have some "adult" content, but they changed it later to a model who was clothed.

Disney does have a shareholder certificate now, although I don't believe it legally proves ownership.

It might be possible to buy older stock certificates, where it's really a bearer instrument and ownership establishes legal ownership of the stock.

Open an account with Fidelity. They have no commissions on trades and you can buy fractional shares.

Disney stock has been a poor performing stock for the last year. The more recent developments have only exacerbated the issue.

The stock market doesn't care about the politics. In the long term the only thing that matters is the profits. The Reedy Creek situation is just background noise and won't matter to future profits.

You can still get a "commemorative" stock certificate with all the Disney characters on it but they charge $50 extra for it. Disney marketing at it's finest, charge them extra for the fancy stock certificate.
All the shareholder perks for Disney are gone. No more special vacation packages at a Discount.

I tried to get shares I bought my infant, now an adult changed to his name instead of guardian etc.. . They wanted the actual stock back … which was the decorated one and was framed at the time with that silly saying.. something about … when I go to Disney it’s really about business cause I have stock .. whatever.
Point was I told them I’d like to keep the framed piece ( which was costly at the time) but the Only way was to turn it in. They were never turned it, it’s another 9 years… still framed n hanging up 🤣.
