Looks like early trading in DIS is down slightly this morning. Odd result.

Since I didn't see a dedicated thread to the earnings call this quarter, I'm going to rename this thread Disney Stock News & Earnings, . Maybe we'll be able to pull in the wider discussion that's happening on other threads.

Sounds good. I was contributing a lot to this thread because it seemed like it was just fun to watch the stock go up as part owner of the magic!

I avoid the market watch kinda stuff. DIS is going to go up and down a little (all a crap shoot), but continue to go up long-term. I pull out and put back in part of my DIS solely based on the direction it is going. It’s been really easy to make money that way. It’s really just gambling though.

I follow everything Disney is doing. It has been a really exciting past 20 years. Or thirty if you count the renaissance. I read Bob Iger’s book. It was great.

I guess a way to get excited about Disney is to watch what it’s doing via watching the market. I like the headlines, but it’s not going to drive my decisions. Have fun.

The trend is your friend! I plan on doing the same on a few companies I follow closely...it will probably have to wait until retirement though.
I too have held DIS and followed it closely for a decade or 4 and remember, as a youngster, looking up the closing price in the newspaper everyday.

I just bought my first DIS stock recently so I guess I should join in this thread?

(Years ago when an acquaintance found out how often I went to Disney, he asked if I owned shares in Disney... I wish I had bought some shares then! But I only started looking at investments and all very recently so this is all rather new to me!)

If only I bought more when I started this thread in Dec.

A 33% gain in less than 3 months...not bad for a company that's been around for a century.

And I was thinking when they were down at the beginning of the pandemic that it was still an expensive stock at close to $100 and it would never go up that much... 🙄

I had the opposite thought. As a long-term investor, I thought it was way undervalued due to the Covid panic, and bought up 100 shares. It's been a nice year!

I still hate the fact that the soulless, uncreative executives are bent on cutting cost and pushing price at the parks every chance they get, but at least now I'm on the other side of that equation, too!

There were so many bargains to be had in March/April but I did not have the guts to put money in the market while it was so volatile and the world literally looked like it was ending (at least from our vantage point in the Northeast).

The rollercoaster continues - it hit $200 on Wednesday and closed at $189 on Friday, hopefully the market stabilizes soon. I'll take some flat trading for a while after a year of craziness.

And now the concern of U.S. Treasury/bond yields start their impacts.

Yep! And now that DIS is treated more like a high growth tech stock, we have the wild up and down swings of that sector. Hopefully the optimism around reopening will set a solid floor under it.
